International Program of Masters in Environmental Science and Engineering

The Civil & Environment Engineering school of University of Science and Technology Beijing grew out of the Mining Department of Beijing University of Iron and Steel Technology . It is one of the earliest departments since the college was first set up. The Mining Department was made up of the Mining Department of Beiyang University and the Mining Department of North China University at that time. The university established the Department of Geology in 1980. Then the university applied different institutional management reforms to university, academy and department in November 1994 as well as consolidating original Mining and Geology Departments into Resources Engineering School. In January 2001, the new academy was renamed as the Civil and Environmental Engineering School according to the present situation and developing needs of the majors’ structure. Presently, it has one national key disciplinary area on “Mining Engineering”, four departments on “Civil Engineering”, “Environmental Engineering”, “Resources Engineering” and “Equipment Engineering”.

There are more than 30 teachers in this School undertaking other major positions in some national and international academic institutions. At present, there are four second grade academic institutions under the School. They are the Mining Committee of China Metal Association, the Educational Committee of China Rock Mechanics and Engineering Association, CAD and CAM Academic Committee of Metallurgical Automation Association and the Technological Petrology Committee of China Silicate Association; one international association: Asian Pacific International Fluid and Inclusion Association.

The School has cooperation relationship with over 20 universities and institutions of U.S.A, Japan, Australia, Britain, Sweden, Canada, Russia, etc. More than 100 people have joined the international academic conferences or given lectures aboard, and 20 people were the executive president in plenary meetings or special meeting since 1980.
