Teaching-in-English Programs in College of Computer and Communication

College of Computer and Communication in Hunan University has now 1 doctoral program in Computer Application Technology; 2 master programs in Computer Science and Technology, Information and Communication Engineering; 2 master programs of engineering in Computer Application Technology, and Electronics and Communication Engineering; 4 bachelor programs in Computer Science and Technology, Communication Engineering, Information Security, Intelligence Science and Technology.

The college currently has 1 member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 Cheung Kong Scholar, 1 chair professor, 2 members of Talent Project for the New Century of the Ministry of Education , 17 visiting and part-time professors, and 86 full and associate professors.

The college has cultivated 102 international students for master or doctoral degree coming from over 20 countries, and 28 of them had graduated. All the courses are instructed in English, using the latest international computer teaching textbooks in English, with the teaching plans catering for international computer education. At present, there are 47 professors teaching courses for foreign students and 1 doctor responsible for those students’ administrative jobs.

Curriculum for Foreign Students (Master’s Degree)

I. Basic Theoretical Courses:

Discrete Mathematics, Programming Language, Advanced Digital Logic Design, Advanced Data Structure and Algorithm

II. Compulsory Courses:

Advanced Computer Operation System, Advanced Computer System Structure, Advanced Computer Network, Advanced Compiling Technology, Database System, Software Engineering

III. Elective Courses: (at least 3 to 6 courses required）

Advanced Scientific Computation, Computation Theory, Embedded System, Wireless Sensor Network, Advanced Artificial Intelligence, Multimedia Processing, Network and Information Security, Integrate Circuit Design, Intelligence Information Processing, Internet Technology

(All students can begin degree dissertation after acquiring the credits required.)

Teaching-in-English Programs in College of Economics and Trade

The economic subject of Hunan University has a long history. The university set up the business subject in 1926, the Business Department in 1931, and the Commercial College in 1946. A complete four-level talent-training pattern of post-doctor—doctor—master—bachelor is well-developed. The college has offered teaching-in-English master and doctoral programs of economics and has accepted over 70 international students since 2009. The length of teaching-in-English master program is usually 2 years and 3 years of doctoral programs.
