Djoldasbekov Umirbek Arislanovich - winner of international gold medals after V.G. Shukhov and Al- Khwarizmi and laureate of the State Prize, Honored Worker of Science, the organizer of higher school , science, engineering, public and political figure, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, and the International Republican Academy of Engineering, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, member of the American society of mechanical mechanical-engineers, a world-renowned expert in the theory of mechanisms and machines, mechanics of robototechnique systems was born on March 1, 1931 in the village of Kyzyl-Suu in Shymkent district of South Kazakhstan region. In 1949 he graduated the secondary school after Spaptaev with a gold medal in Chimkent and entered the Moscow State University. In 1954 he married Bagizbaeva M.M. In connection with his marriage there is a curious detail: the wedding was the first student wedding party and it took place in the new building of Moscow State University. The Rector of Moscow State University gave the blessings to the happy bride and groom: Djoldasbekov U.A (future academician)and Bagizbaeva MM ( future doctor of Philology).

After graduating in 1954 Moscow State University he worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics and a dean of mechanical faculty of the Kazakh Institute of Technology in Shymkent. In 1961 he graduated from the postgraduate courses of Moscow Textile Institute and worked as a teacher at this university.


In the years 1962 -1964. U.A.Dzholdasbekov was an Associate Professor, Head of Department, Dean, and in 1970 he is a Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Kazakh Polytechnical Institute.
The years of work in KazPTI were the years of creative growth as a teacher, scholar and leader. He was the initiator of using new methods and principles of learning and improvement of curricula of disciplines. It was his idea that special attention should be paid to interdisciplinary approach ties and logical sequence in the study of disciplines, i.e. into the educational process structural-logic schemes of learning were introduced, taking into consideration the ties between general theoretical and specialized disciplines. As a gifted teacher, he understood profoundly the essentials of training programs and the ways of their effective implementation. It should be noted that he has made a worthy contribution not only to the further development of the Kazakh National Technical University, but to the advancement of all other Kazakhstan.
In the period 1970-1986 U.A. Dzholdasbekov was the rector of the largest university of the country, S.M. Kirov (later - al-Farabi) State University. Under his leadership and his direct participation the complex of campus buildings were constructed, and there was an appreciable improvement in training of highly qualified specialists for different branches of industry, science and culture.
In 1970 he established a research machines mechanics laboratory in the Kazakh State University. In 1971he organized the Kazakh branch of the All-Union seminar on the theory of machines and mechanisms in Alma-Ata , now Kazakhstan seminar on the theory of mechanisms and machines. In association with I.I.Levitsky he developed a program of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education on the course "Theory of mechanisms and machines". In 1973 he set up the Department of Applied Mechanics in the Faculty of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics at Kirov Kazakh State University, which was the first in the country to begin training of specialists in the theory of mechanisms and machines (TMM) with fundamental university education.
The All-Union Congress on TMM held in 1977 and V All-Union Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics held in 1981 organized on the basis of Kazakh State University with the direct participation U.A.Dzholdasbekov, gave a powerful impetus to the development of the science of mechanics of machines in the country.

During the years of U.A. Dzholdasbekov leadership the main university of the country – KazSU has significantly strengthened its scientific and technical base and has gained international prestige. The Kazakh State University was admitted as a member of the UIA (International Association of Universities). The unique town Kazgugrad - the pride of the higher school of Kazakhstan has been built.
In 1986 – 88s he headed the Department of Applied Mechanics at Kazakh State University; in 1988-91 he was the Head of the Laboratory of the Institute of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering in the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR; In the period 1991-1995 he was the Director of the Institute "Mechanics and Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, simultaneously from the year 1991 he was the President of the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Committee on Science, Education and New Technologies. in 1994-1995 he was the Chairman of the Majilis Committee.
W.A. Dzholdasbekov is the author of over 400 scientific works, more than 70 of which have been published in foreign countries, as well as 12 monographs, 30 textbooks and manuals, has 126 certificates of authorship and foreign patents. He was the first to create the Kazakh terminology for Mechanical Engineering, and wrote the first books on the theory of mechanisms and machines in the Kazakh language, and published for the first time terminological dictionaries in the Kazakh language and TMM Theoretical Mechanics for universities and colleges.
Academician W.A. Dzholdasbekov prepared 25 doctors and over 100 candidates of sciences. An outstanding scientist - engineer, doctor of technical sciences, professor, academician of the International Academy of Engineering and the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Umirbek Arislanovich Dzholdasbekov is the founder of the theory of mechanisms and machines in Kazakhstan. He has created the fundamentals of high class plane and spatial mechanisms (IAC). Based on the PSM theory research results and experimental and pilot prototypes of innovative lifting, grab mechanisms and manipulation devices having no analogues in the world and protected by numerous copyright certificates and patents were created. The scientific school established by Dzholdasbekov occupies a worthy place in the world of science and research and continues to be in the leading position in the priority areas.
Academician W.A. Dzholdasbekov is the first President of the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorary Chairman of the Republican Party of Labor, First Vice President and Academician of the International Academy, Vice-President of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic states, academician of the National Academy of Sciences, the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the Society of Engineers - US engineers , the International Academy of ecological reconstruction, Honorary Academician of the Engineering Academy of Pakistan and a number of CIS countries, laureate of the State Prize and honored worker of science of Kazakhstan recipient of international gold medals after the names of V.G. Shukhov (Moscow) and Al-Khwarizmi (Iran). Throughout his life in all his activities academician U.A. Dzholdasbekov used his understanding of the world, science and scientific and technical progress as the principal guidance in all his decisions. He was a true philosopher-scientists of the new formation who has absorbed the ancient culture of his people, and deeply understood the process of scientific and technological revolution taking place in the world. The philosophical heritage of academician U.A. Dzholdasbekov has not yet been fully comprehended by his pupils and successors. And there is no doubt that the study of his writings, articles, works will open up a whole world of knowledge and philosophical understanding of contemporary transformations in the world.
Academician U.A.Dzholdasbekov is a major organizer of science and a prominent public figure. Six times he was elected to the Supreme Council of the country, from 1998 until his death - the chairman of the Committee for Socio-Cultural Development of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Academician U.A.Dzholdasbekov as the chairman of the Regional Specialized Council on doctoral theses, made a great contribution to the training of highly qualified scientists for Kazakhstan, the republics of Central Asia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia and many other countries. He has invested a lot of effort and energy into strengthening of international ties of Kazakh school of scientists - engineers.
W.A. Dzholdasbekov has government awards: the Order of Lenin, two Orders of Red Banner of Labor, medals of the USSR, diploma of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. He was elected as a delegate of XXIV and XXV Congresses of the CPSU and the XIII-XVI congresses of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.
An important stage in the work of the academician was the formation of the Eurasian free space engineering, which is a powerful center for engineering activities in Europe and Asia and which provides integration of the efforts of scientists and engineers (article "Science of Kazakhstan», №3, 1997, February 15).
The ideas of cademician U.A. Dzholdasbekov served as a testament to the members of MIA, and the work on implementation has already started and will be brought to completion (B. Gusev - President MIA).
On the basis of the fundamental works by outstanding scientists V.L. Kirpichev, N.E. Zhukovsky, L.V. Assura, I.I. Artobolevsky, Academician W.A Dzholdasbekov has developed a fundamental theory on the analysis and synthesis of high class mechanisms and on its basis together with his students developed fundamentally new mechanisms and handling devices, which have no analogues in the world practice, and in his time they were recommended by NTS Bureau USSR Machinery for widespread use in the fields of mechanical engineering complex.
