Description of the Institute

To organize scientific and technological park at KazNU named after Al-Farabi created favorable conditions for the active deployment of high-tech industries, based on the results of research and development work of scientists and young researchers of the University.

At the core of the development strategy of STP KazNU based on capacity and intellectual potential of six research institutes (the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Institute of Combustion Problems, Institute of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, Institute of Chemical Technology and New Materials, Institute of Ecology, Institute of Biological Problems and biotechnology), research centers (Centre of physical and chemical methods of analysis, the center of al-Farabi, the center ethnopedagogics and ethnic psychology, French center), and the science and Technology Park Treasury. Exactly Technopark of KazNU is the basis for the implementation of scientific and industrial projects in KazNU.

Mission, goals and objectives

The mission of "STP" - the creation of favorable conditions for the establishment and development of innovative business, looking for possible business partners, attracting investors to implement innovative scientific and technical projects and to provide quality consulting services.

The main objectives of Technopark

  • to promote the development of entrepreneurship in the academic, scientific, technical, innovation;
  • to participate in the development and implementation of government, industry, regional and international research programs and projects, undertaking research and development activities, production of high-tech products;
  • the organization of business activity in science and technology with the teaching staff, individual scientists and specialists, students (students, masters, doctoral) universities;
  • the promotion of international contracts, contributing to the output of high technology products to the foreign market;
  • participation in international programs and exhibitions, brokering and representation services;
  • assistance in attracting foreign investment and technology;
  • the creation of new jobs, including scientists, students, highly qualified specialists;
  • creating the evidence base for scientific research and projects;
  • analysis, selection of innovative projects, the assessment of commercial risk of innovative proposals, marketing of the products.

The goals to be achieved:

  • the introduction of innovative products developed by scientists and researchers of universities;
  • involving budgetary, economic contracts, means the various innovation funds to perform research and research and development with staff and faculty;

Fundamental and applied research

In the "STP" conducts fundamental and applied research on the global level to national and international projects. Fundamental and applied researches are carried out on concrete results with the possibility of transfer of research institutions in the plane of their practical application. On the level of the studies show the results:

  • Developed high-tech cryogenic technologies and production lines created on the basis of their pilot production, adapted to the industrial environment in Kazakhstan;
  • Development of high technology and based on these high-tech systems for the processing of mineral and biological resources of Kazakhstan;
  • Development of scientific and technological bases of plasma technology, and based on these equipment for power engineering;
  • Developed and implemented advanced energy-saving technology and heat-conditioning
  • Research results are implemented at the existing thermal power plants in Kazakhstan to optimize combustion efficiency and in order to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere;
  • Developed a unique system of hot-wire devices for measuring the characteristics of turbulent flows;
  • determined diffusion coefficients for 20 pairs of gases that are included in directories in the base governmental standart;
  • the phenomenon of diffusion instability in multicomponent gas systems;
  • designed and manufactured cryogenic equipment, which has been successfully used at a number of enterprises of Almaty.

In Technopark focused on developing innovative projects, one of it’s project - "Development and implementation of a campus of Al-Farabi environmentally friendly technology for processing organic fraction of municipal solid waste." The new eco-friendly and inexpensive technology vermicomposting widely and successfully will used in Kazakhstan for processing various types of organic waste, including the organic fraction of MSW. The competitiveness of the produce is not in doubt because of the actual waste will be received high feed additives.

"The development of hardware and software of the vehicle and the creation of an experimental prototype nano-satellite", whose goal is the development of hardware and software of the vehicle and the creation of an experimental prototype first student nanosatellite Kazakhstan and ground testing of experimental model to further nanosatellite launch into space.

The activities of "STP" in this area is directly integrated with the activities of the country's flagship university’s system country, Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi on the training of competitive highly qualified personnel.

"NTP" has a specialized research equipment for applied and basic research in the natural sciences and engineering (physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and other pulsatile)

Employees "NTP" received 32 titles: patents RK entrepreneurial patents, innovation patents, copyrights evidence of intellectual property.Over the past five years it has increased by 2.3 times compared with the initial period of implementation."NTP" has great potential for the policy in patent activities, support of projects at national and international levels.
