Upon completion of this educational program, it is expected that undergraduates will be able to:
ON 1 Use the conceptual apparatus, methods, techniques and technologies of quantitative history and historical informatics; analyze the problems of studying mass historical sources based on the synthesis of source-study, information and formal-quantitative approaches;
ON 2 Conduct comparative – typological, comparative, systemic and structural analysis of the information data of historical sources.
ON 3 Solve socio-economic, socio-political, socio-demographic, historical-geographic problems and analyze dynamic processes using systems analysis and mathematical modeling.
ON 4 Process data from historical sources using the methods of mathematical statistics and new information technologies, computer equipment (hardware and software).
ON 5 Correlate the methodological foundations of historical science, source study, quantitative history and historical informatics, to distinguish between controversial concepts and paradigms widely discussed in contemporary foreign and domestic historiography of quantitative history and historical informatics.
ON 6 Effectively use methods for searching information on the Internet, technologies for working with electronic catalogs of leading libraries and museums of Kazakhstan and the world, as well as with Internet resources of domestic and foreign archival services.
ON 7 Create source-oriented and problem-oriented historical databases. Design the simplest mathematical models of historical processes and phenomena.
ON 8 Create historical maps using GIS technology. To carry out 3D-reconstruction of historical objects.
ON 9 Generate educational programs and electronic resources for educational, research purposes. To process graphic sources, photographic documents, geographical maps and other historical sources using information technologies for processing graphic information.
ON 10 Possess basic computer programs for processing data from historical sources in the context of archival, library or museum storage.
ON 11 Use content analysis as a method of quantitative study of textual arrays of various types of historical sources: chronicles, chronicles, religious texts, periodicals, sources of personal origin, records management documentation.
ON 12 Use skills to work with information from various sources, present it in various forms of messages, presentations and reports, taking into account the specifics of the audience, substantiating and competently presenting their point of view on problematic issues; Effectively work in a team when searching and solving educational and scientific problems of EP.
