A delegation from Turkey headed by the Rector of Ankara University Necdet Unuvar and the Rector of Gazi University Musa Yildiz arrived at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on a working visit. During the visit the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation.

Welcoming the honored guests, Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted the importance of 30 years of cooperation between the two countries and drew attention to the strengthening further cooperation.

KazNU has signed 45 contracts with universities of Ankara, Gazi, Erzincan, Bilkent, Tashkent, Istanbul, Haсettepe, etc. Within the framework of the partnership, various educational programs and scientific and innovative projects are successfully implemented today. Over the past two years, more than 20 experts from Turkey have been invited to give lectures and conduct research.

The rector expressed his intention to comprehensively improve the bilateral partnership and noted that the TURKSOY department at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University trains the most outstanding Turkish specialists, linguists and translators.

In turn, the Rector of Ankara University Necdet Unyuvar thanked the head of the university for the warm welcome. He voiced a number of specific proposals for further enhancing cooperation.

"I am glad that I have come to the homeland of my ancestors. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a leading university in Kazakhstan. I hope today's meeting will open a new productive stage of cooperation between our universities. Relations between the two universities are developing day by day. I believe that in the future, in order to develop the branch of science, it is necessary to carry out joint scientific projects. KazNU, Ankara and Gazi universities have strong, qualified scientists. It is necessary to form a common base and jointly implement new projects. This, in turn, will contribute to the comprehensive development of science," Necdet Unuvar announced.

"Indeed, science is very relevant now. Gazi University is happy to accept this offer. In addition, the work will continue in the field of double–degree education, academic mobility, exchange of experience and technologies," the rector of Gazi University emphazised.

Zhanseit Tuimebayev expressed support for these initiatives. During the meeting the parties agreed on the comprehensive development of cooperation.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Al-Farabi Library, where they got acquainted with innovative projects developed by KazNU scientists and the development plan of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
