KOREAN INSTITUTE INTENDS TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION WITH KAZNU

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held an official meeting with the Director of the Korean Institute of Eurasian Sciences and Turkology Oh Eun Kyung. During the negotiations, the parties signed a Memorandum on bilateral cooperation and discussed joint projects that will be implemented in the future.

Expressing the appreciation to the administration of KazNU for the hospitality, Professor Oh Eun Kyung expressed her intention to establish deep cooperation with the leading university of the country. In addition, the Turkologist noted that currently she is actively engaged in the study of Kazakhstan.

In turn, the head of university Zhanseit Tuimebayev told the guest of honor about the achievements of the university. "Today Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is among the 150 best universities in the world. Today, over 500 international cooperation agreements have been signed with leading universities and institutes, within the framework of which various educational programs and scientific and innovative projects are successfully implemented. Foreign students from 50 countries study at KazNU. In addition, under the program "Attracting foreign specialists to Kazakhstan’s universities" prominent scientists contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists by providing lectures and scientific guidance” - the rector stated.

Further, the rector emphasized the role of the university’s activities to enhance Turkic studies. In this regard, he noted that the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has a department of Turkology and Theory of language, and also expressed readiness to conduct joint research in these fields. At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold negotiations for the further development of the "Turkic World" project.
