Nowadays robotics is becoming one of the key areas of development of science and technology, which in the XXI century will determine the scientific, technical, industrial and defense potential of the state.

"Robotic system" is one of the most popular major and sought-after occupations of the future, as long as this specialty is interdisciplinary, standing on three pillars of mechanics, information systems and electronics. Initially in 2019 the educational program "Robotic Systems" (bachelor's degree, master's degree) was pioneered in Kazakhstan by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the basis of the Department of Mechanics.

By the end of the academic period students will:

• carry out a comprehensive analysis of scientific and technical data in order to research/develop new models and improve existing robotic systems;

• be able to utilize the physical, mathematical devices and scientific apparatus necessary to describe the technical characteristics, mechatronic and robotic systems;

• manage to substantiate the structure of the design of robotic systems; its mechanical, electrical and electronic components.

The university provides laboratories with the necessary facilities under the guidance of qualified teaching staff. Students have the opportunity to manufacture and design modules of robots, to observe the technological process, conduct laboratory and numerical experiments, evaluate the accuracy and reliability of the results.

There are examples of students' participation in the implementation of research results in the production of robotic system; they have demonstrated high level of critical thinking and the ability to develop draft models. Last year the assigned group of student of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has won the third place in ETU Robocon 2021" the II Republican Robotics Championship among universities ".
