Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in the session of the General Meeting of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting brought together the heads of the Research Institutes, academics and scientists. Two issues were put on the agenda. In particular, information about the activity of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the progress of work on giving the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan a state status based on the speech of the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Speaking at the session, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurinov gave a report on the work done for the current year.

"In 2022 the National Academy of Sciences turned 75 years old. In honor of this significant date Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the session. The President stated that the Academy will be granted state status. This is a great support for national science," Murat Zhurinov claimed.

During the meeting the Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev made a report on the topic "On the tasks of reforming the activities of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dated 01.06.2022". "Nowadays the development of natural sciences is a priority for the state with the main emphasis on breakthroughs in energy resources and new technologies. Therefore, it is necessary to find among the social sciences and humanities such areas of activity that can really be useful and beneficial to the state and society as a whole. Building a New Kazakhstan is a responsible and difficult period that requires the assistance of representatives of scientific and epistemic society. There is a need to develop a new paradigm of research and development integrating knowledge and experience of various disciplines in understanding the realities of the global world and the worldview of a citizen of New Kazakhstan," - Zhanseit Tuimebayev emphasized.

Moreover, the participants of the session expressed their opinions, ideas and suggestions on such issues as changing the status of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, increasing the role of the Academy of Science, the further development of national science. In addition, academicians and scientists outlined specific tasks and defined further goals of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
