A meeting of the Department of Social Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan was held in the scientific library of Al-Farabi.

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev in his report "On the tasks of reforming the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of social sciences within the framework of the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev dated 01.06.2022" noted a responsible and difficult period on the way to the establishment of new Kazakh society and focused on increasing demands of social and humanitarian spheres.

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered his speech on the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he has set a number of tasks for the scientific community related to changing the status of the National Academy of Sciences. In this regard, during the reformation of the National Academy of Sciences the sphere of social sciences faces great challenges.

Rector stressed that the problem resolution of social and humanitarian sciences, which currently are in the process of changing the status of the National Academy of Sciences will give a powerful impulse to the development of Kazakhstan’s sciences. "Indeed, these adjustments are primarily humanitarian. There is a need to develop a new humanitarian paradigm that integrates knowledge and experience of various disciplines in understanding the realities of the global world and designed to determine the worldview of a citizen of New Kazakhstan. In the light of the reform scientists should analyze the current state of socio-humanities and solve a number of tasks," the Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev stated in his speech.

The report proposed several directions and tasks such as ‘Analysis of the needs of state, industry and private organizations’, ‘Commercial development of conference activities of the National Academy of Sciences and Research Institutes of socio-humanitarian direction’, ‘Development and organization of applied educational products’, ‘Commercial products in the field of expert consulting activities of the National Academy of Sciences and Research institutes’, ‘New editorial and publishing policy in the field of social and humanitarian sciences and non-standard sources of financing’ and many others.

The scientists noted that domestic social and humanitarian science will contribute to the development of the state and society.

The participants of the meeting posed questions to the main speakers, expressed their proposals for resolution of the main tasks of reforming the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
