A SORBONNE BRANCH WILL OPEN IN THE TREASURY

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University visited a delegation headed by Mr. Luc Levy, commissioner for special assignments of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France. During the visit, the parties discussed issues of mutually beneficial cooperation and the transfer of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute to KazNU.

The French delegation was represented by Luc Levy, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Pierre Maouet, Head of Europe Department, Alex Bortolan, Cooperation, and Culture Adviser at the Embassy of France in Uzbekistan, Xavier Le Torrivelle, Regional Attaché for Educational Cooperation at the Embassy of France.
Asel Uvalieva, Pro-Rector for Operations of KazNU, having welcomed the distinguished guests, noted that France and Kazakhstan are united by longstanding cooperation in the field of education. "France, as the full participant of integration processes in Europe, plays a significant role in the process of advancement of Kazakhstan in the world community and is our important partner", - told the speaker.
Today KazNU successfully cooperates with 18 higher educational institutions in France, within the framework of which the academic exchange takes place. Under the program of MES KazNU receives foreign professors, and large international projects (including in the framework of the European initiative Erasmus+) are implemented. The center "Geo-energy" created jointly with the University of Lorraine with the direct support of the French Embassy in Kazakhstan is successfully functioning. The Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute is scheduled to move to KazNU in the near future, which opens up new horizons for a successful and fruitful partnership. In turn, Mr. Lucom Levy, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, thanked for the warm welcome, expressed a great interest in developing mutually beneficial cooperation and willingness to promote joint activities in science and education. The meeting was concluded with a memorable photo session.
