Opening the meeting of the Academic Council, the Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev introduced the new members of the Board: Vice-Rector for Operations Asel Uvalieva and Vice-Rector for Social Development Nurzhan Aidosov. The Rector also talked about important recent events in the life of the university. "KazNU is becoming not only the centre of science and education but also of many national and international events," stressed the head of the university.

On May 9 the branch of KazNU in Istanbul was opened, and agreements with several universities in Turkey were signed. The Forum of Rectors of Central Asia was held, and meetings with members of the Majilis of Parliament, with veteran builders of KazSUgrad, which celebrated its 50th anniversary, with the governor of Ankara, etc. were also held. The 10th Republican Congress of Political Scientists was held with the participation of State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Karin. There are also a number of significant events scheduled for the near future, for which thorough preparations are necessary.

The report of a member of the Board of Academic Affairs - Vice-Rector F.N. Zhakypova was devoted to measures for the modernisation of the educational process. The rapporteur summarised the results of this activity for the past academic year in such parameters as updating educational programmes, improving the quality of the student population, developing human resources, digital modernisation, etc. "This year the staff has done a lot of work, aiming at the goal of updating educational programmes - set by the Head of State", - she said. - For this purpose, we have implemented the following measures: analysis of Kazakhstani and international experience by focus groups at faculties, strategic sessions with deans and heads of faculties, optimisation of educational programmes for the new academic year, forecasting enrolment in terms of educational programmes, etc.". At the end of her speech, the Vice-rector proposed a number of measures aimed at improving the quality of the educational process. 

The representative of the professional union "Parasite" employees of the University D.U. Ryskaliev reported on the implementation of the terms of the collective bargaining agreement of the University. The speaker outlined the status and powers of the trade union "Parasat" and focused on the importance of fulfilling the terms of the collective agreement, which determines the market mechanisms and ways to implement the tasks contained in the legislation, as well as the principles of social policy.

After discussion of reports of speakers the recommendations of textbooks, monographs of scientists of university, and also a question of awarding of academic titles to the representatives of the teaching staff were considered.
