Al-Farabi Kazakh National University provides comprehensive support to students in the state of emergency in connection with the events that have taken place in the country in recent days.

In the early days of the riots, security measures were tightened on campus, hot meals were delivered to Kazakhstani and foreign students living in a hostel, to specialists from the Security Service. In addition, young people were given food baskets and provided with the most necessary.

The university widely conducts explanatory work among young people that one should not succumb to provocations from unscrupulous groups. Curators-advisers of the educational institution keep in touch with students and parents of the city of Almaty, the region and other regions who are on winter holidays, answer their questions, share rules and advice on safety in connection with the emergency regime.

Madi Nurzhau, an active member of the KazNU Youth Committee, who visited the hostel these days, said: “The university provides maximum support to students living in the hostel. Young people were given bread, butter, dumplings, rice, and sugar. In addition, bread was distributed every two days on behalf of the university administration. One day in the Begemot store inside Kazgugrad, food was given out free of charge. In these difficult days, we felt comprehensive care for us. We express our gratitude to the administration of KazNU.”

Zhanar Mashyrykova, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Philology, also expressed her opinion: “At the beginning of the year, we were shocked by what had happened. From messengers such as instagram, facebook, whatsapp, telegram, various information was received. At this point, we listened to the advice of our teachers and curators. We realized that for the safety and good of the country, you need to remain calm and stay in the hostel. The university provided us with all the necessary food. Many thanks to the leadership of KazNU for their help in difficult times!”

It is worth noting that on behalf of the city administration and the Nur Otan party, students were also presented with bakery products and fruits.
