Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a press conference for representatives of the media.

At the beginning, the main infrastructure facilities of the university were shown to the journalists. They examined the buildings and auditoriums of the faculties of philology, history and journalism, where renovation work is underway, the territory of the campus, the library named after Al-Farabi, the Elbasy Alley and the Alley of Trees, the student canteen in the Keremet DSP. A group of journalists also visited the building of the Higher School of Economics and Business, found out the prices in the canteen at the faculty, and also visited student dormitories.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev acquainted journalists with the development program of the educational institution, the campus modernization plan, spoke about the achievements of the university and the work done, and also answered questions from journalists. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is one of the leading universities in the country with a rich history, traditions and achievements. Today, the structure of the university includes 16 faculties and 68 departments, 8 research institutes and 29 research centers. The Medical Diagnostic Center, the Palace of Students named after OA Dzholdasbekova, Student Service Center "Keremet", Sports and Health Camp on Lake Issyk-Kul. There are about 140 scientific and educational research laboratories.

At the press conference, the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU presented the campus development plan to the guests. In his speech, the head of the university noted that the university pays great attention to the issues of material incentives for teachers. So, only in the current year wages have been raised twice. The first increase of 20% was in February. The second increase was established from September 1 in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Now the minimum salary for a teacher is 285 thousand, for a senior teacher - 312 thousand, for an associate professor - 389 thousand, for a professor - 500 thousand.

More than 650 educational programs are being implemented in KazNU today. This year, more than 100 new ones were launched in the most relevant and promising areas. These are neuroscience, cyberphysics, biological engineering, robotic systems, natural and technological risks in the natural science and engineering direction. In the social and humanitarian direction: public administration and public safety, digital economy, creative industries, media communications, smart city economy.

Currently, the process of modernizing the infrastructure of the university is in full swing. This year, seven educational buildings underwent cosmetic repairs, and major repairs are being completed in three educational buildings. 14 hostels have already been repaired and more modern and comfortable conditions for students have been created.

The head of the university in his speech outlined such problems as the high deterioration of hostels, outdated educational buildings. In many, overhaul has not been carried out since commissioning. Communications are in disrepair. Almost 15 thousand students are in need of hostels. The last student dormitory was introduced in 1991. The issue of high physical and moral deterioration of classrooms, educational furniture and equipment requires a solution. Engineering networks and communications are in critical condition. There is a need for new buildings and auditoriums.

In this regard, a work plan for the development of the campus until 2025 has been developed, which provides for the reconstruction and construction of hostels and educational buildings. Together with the Financial Center of the Ministry of Education and Science, the issue of attracting investors for the construction of hostels is being resolved. In addition, various mechanisms for attracting external investment are being considered, which will reduce the burden on the budget.

This year, the university staff planted more than 600 trees, the Alley of Elbasy and the Alley of Trees were opened.
