Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with the master of sports of international class, Olympic champion of Sydney Yermakhan Ibraimov. At the meeting, issues of promoting a healthy lifestyle and the development of student sports were discussed.

The head of the university thanked the Olympic champion for the constant support of his native university and noted that the alma mater is proud of his champions and wished the athlete success in his current activities. The rector also shared the results of KazNU in the scientific and educational sphere and plans for further development. He also voiced about the high sports achievements of university students in Kazakhstan and international sports arenas. Noting that KazNU is the leader of student sports, he named the names of the winners at the Tokyo Olympics as an example - weightlifter Igor Son, swimmer Nurdaulet Zhumagali, judoka Eldos Smetov, freestyle wrestler Nurislam Sanaev.

The graduate of KazNU, in turn, noted the special status of the university and expressed his satisfaction with the positive changes on the campus. He emphasized the high performance of the university in various fields and expressed his readiness to contribute and share experience. Having highly appreciated the potential of the university in the field of sports, he said that the university has trained and graduated many outstanding athletes. Also during the meeting, the issue of the importance of mass sports in preserving the health of the nation, as well as ways of involving young people in sports and the prospects for the industry were discussed.
