The XI Summer Universiade among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan ended on June 9 in the city of Turkestan. National teams from 60 universities of the country took part in the competition. KazNU named after Al-Farabi confidently won in the team competition and took the 1st place, significantly ahead of its rivals in points.

In the team event, the II place was won by the MKTU named after I. HA. Yassaui. Honorary III place was awarded to the team of KazNPU named after Abai.

According to the director of the sports club of Al-Farabi KazNU Talgat Duisembayev, in any sport it is always more difficult to defend the title of the winner than to win it. This time, the athletes of the country's leading university for the seventh time showed their high skills and beat their rivals by a large margin in points. “Thanks to the hard work of KazNU coaches, our athletes have shown excellent results. And we are proud of our students-athletes who, despite any difficulties, managed to prove their skill and courage, ”said Talgat Duisembayev.

At the XI Summer Universiade among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the national teams of KazNU won in 19 sports. Also, the athletes of the university in seven sports took 2nd place and six - won 3rd place. In general, our athletes took part in competitions in 35 sports. According to the honored trainer of the Kazakh SSR - senior teacher V.S. Zhuravleva, the men's national volleyball team performed brightly at the XI Summer Universiade, which, despite the excitement raised by the fans, confidently won in 3 games. It should be noted that coach V.S. Zhuravlev, his experience and tactics played an important role.

According to the coach of KazNU Nikolay Yudakov, the competition was very difficult. The Universiade is the most responsible and important sporting event in student sports. “Our goal was to achieve maximum results. Therefore, we trained our athletes well. Girls and boys did not lose a single game and outplayed their rivals. We had a task - to win two gold medals. During the competition, there were no particular difficulties. Only in the final there was a difficult game with the team of Ust-Kamenogorsk VKTU. The players in this group were older and more experienced. However, our girls defended the honor of the university and won, ”said the coach of the KazNU team N. Yudakov.

The final part of the XI Summer Universiade of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan was the freestyle wrestling competition among men's and women's teams. The wrestlers of the men's team of our university won a landslide victory in the team competition, and the women's national team, losing only 3 points to the national team of the women's team of MKTU them. Yassaui, took 2nd place. The team coach, senior teacher, master of sports in freestyle wrestling of the Republic of Kazakhstan E.K. Kelgenbaev led the sportsmen to this success. The closing ceremony of the Universiade and awarding the winners was held on June 9 in Turkestan.
