A group of scientists led by Zhanar Zhenis, a professor at KazNU named after al-Farabi, has developed an antiviral multi-natural supplement - an effective remedy in the fight against acute respiratory viral infections.

To date, the relevance and timeliness of the project to develop an antiviral supplement designed to combat various viral infections and other diseases leaves no doubt. The herbal blend has a unique composition that includes herbs such as mint, clove, chamomile and licorice. It is a pure, natural and safe product with pronounced antiviral properties.

“The natural supplement reduces the risk of complications from influenza and acute respiratory viral infections and speeds up recovery. It strengthens the body's defenses, which are so necessary in the fight against disease, improves lung function and stops coughing, ”- said the author of the project, director of the Center for Medicinal Plants at KazNU Zhanar Zhenis. According to her, 30 patients have already undergone a 15-day full course of treatment, having completely recovered and restored the strength of the body.

The large-scale implementation of the project will make it possible to obtain a multi-natural additive - a bioactive composition against influenza and acute respiratory viral infections, which is the basis for the production of new pharmaceutical products based on raw materials. This, in turn, will reduce the number of medicines imported into the country.

According to the developers, funding research in the field of ethnobotany, traditional medicine, phytochemistry, chemistry of medicinal plants, pharmacognosy and plant ecology is important for the preservation of public health. These measures are essential to protect all of humanity from current and future pandemics.

It is worth noting that in 2020 the project "Development of a Potential Formula of Food Supplements Against COVID-19" under the leadership of Professor Zhanar Zhenis reached the final of the Stop-Coronavirus online competition, which was organized at the initiative of the Science Foundation JSC. And the project "Multi-natural additive for suppressing the spread of SARS in people" will be submitted to the competition for grant funding for fundamental and applied scientific research on scientific and scientific and technical projects for 2021-2023.

The study of the properties of medicinal herbs at the Center for Medicinal Herbs has been going on for several years. In November 2019, KazNU, together with the Xinjiang Physical and Chemical Technical Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, opened a Kazakh-Chinese laboratory of medicines, where university scientists work, developing technologies for the production of medicines rich in medicinal plants in our country.
