The Competition of Young Speakers is Completed

Al-Farabi KazNU summed up the results of the competition of young speakers on the theme «Al-Farabi and Modernity», dedicated to the Day of Philosophy and the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nassir Al-Farabi. The award ceremony was broadcast live on the official Al-Farabi Centre account @ farabicenter2020.
At the final ceremony of the awarding ceremony, Sh.E. Zhamanbalayeva, Vice-Rector for Social Development, congratulated the winners: «I would like to thank all the participants who took an active part in this competition. I am very pleased that young people have shown interest in such a meaningful event. Al-Farabi KazNU is making every effort to demonstrate to the world the great heritage of the scientist and distribute it among young people. I believe that this event paved the way for more in-depth study and research of the works of Al-Farabi. I wish you successful and fruitful work in this direction».
The competition participants competed in the following categories: «A virtuous city is the key to happiness today», «Al-Farabi and music theory», «Al-Farabi – philosophy of happiness», «Philosophy of Al-Farabi and integrity», «Al-Farabi and Abai: continuity of ideas», «Al-Farabi and the formation of science».
The competition received about 150 submissions, the authors of which are schoolchildren, high school and university students from our country and abroad. The winners were determined by a jury vote and the number of likes and comments.
Aliya Masalimova, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Aset Kuranbek, Head of the Department of Philosophy, and Bekzhan Merbaev, Director of Al-Farabi Centre, congratulated the winners and awarded them diplomas and valuable prizes.
Second year student of the Faculty of Philology and World Languages of Turkmenistan Joshkun Atakhanov, who took first place in the category «Al-Farabi and philosophy of decency», shared his impressions of the contest: «Thanks to the competition, we got to know more about the works of Al-Farabi and improved our knowledge of philosophy. I am very proud of my victory. Many thanks to the organisers», he said.
