The Department of Publishing, Editing and Design Art of the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi KazNU has conducted the International scientific-practical online conference «Actual issues of printing, publishing and web-technology», dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the scientist-bibliographer, publisher, editor, Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor – Konyr Mukatayevna Mukatayeva.

Scientists, publishers, editors, printers and designers, attended the conference. The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Professor S.M. Medeubek, congratulating Konyr Mukatayevna and presenting her with certificates from the Rector of the University and Chairman of the «Parasat» Trade Union Committee for her professionalism and active public work. In his speech, the speaker also stressed the importance of the conference theme, the relevance of scientific discussion of topical issues of the publishing industry and higher education.

The following speakers made interesting presentations during the conference: Director of «Arys» publishing house Garifolla Anes, Director of «Qazygurt» publishing house Temigali Kopbayev, Director of the National State Book Chamber of RK Adil Koitanov, representative of L. Gumilev Eurasian National University, Editor-in-chief Turlybek Mameseyit, professor of I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu State University Altyn Bakradenova, editor-in-chief of «Almaty» publishing house Almira Suzhikova.

Participants of conference discussed actual themes, including the current life of modern domestic publishing house, the development of the Kazakhstani bibliography, and the difficulties faced by both publishers and teachers of the University, training specialists in publishing. Problems of book publishing practice were also touched upon such as publishing promotion, advertising, role and place of printed book, scale of distribution of electronic book.

As part of the conference, Master's students of the Design Department organized an exhibition of a social poster entitled «Yesterday and Today: The Connection of Times», dedicated to the anniversary. The conference was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
