During the quarantine period of the coronavirus pandemic, distance and online education has become more relevant than ever. A unique digital educational resource moocs.kz, designed by Al-Farabi KazNU, has currently become very popular.

It presents a National Open Education Platform of Kazakhstan, which unites 12 universities participating in the Networking Consortium for the implementation of educational programs using online courses, as well as 24 partner universities and the «DARA» charity foundation.

Today, 21 online courses are posted on moocs.kz and more than 5 thousand students have been registered there. All students of the country are given the opportunity to register and take online courses with credit transfer. Access to the courses is round-the-clock and free. On a regular basis, training seminars are held on the development and launch of new online courses.

In this difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic, KazNU invites Universities to cooperate and is ready to train the best teachers of other HEIs for free to develop massive open online courses and post them on the platform.
