Start for Celebration of Abu Nasr al-Farabi's 1150th Anniversary

In Almaty, official ceremony to launch the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr Al-Farabi will be held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on January 29, 2020. The anniversary year of Al-Farabi, which is widely being celebrated internationally under the auspices of UNESCO will bring together guests from more than 40 countries.

The ceremony will be attended by State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Krymbek Kusherbayev, Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aymagambetov, Minister of Culture and Sports Aktoty Raimkulova, Almaty Akim Bakytzhan Sagintayev, government and public figures, representatives of the UN and UNESCO, OIC, TURKSOY and other international organizations, diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan, Rectors of HEIs, heads of Scientific Centers and Research Institutes, well-known foreign and domestic scholars-farabiologists.

At 10.00 a.m., the guests will visit the Al-Farabi Library Center, where they will get acquainted with the expositions of the museum dedicated to the great thinker, and the exhibition of his works, domestic and foreign publications about him, the halls of the First President of Kazakhstan, Abay and Alash activists, the rare fund and valuable books, and the digital room. In addition, the library will host the official ceremony of presenting the state scholarship of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy in the field of culture.

In the afternoon  at 2.30 p.m. the participants of the event will lay flowers at the Al-Farabi monument, followed by a ceremony at the Students’ Palace to celebrate Al-Farabi’s 1150th anniversary, which will culminate in a festive concert.
