Kazakh publishing: past and future

The meeting of round table named as “Kazakh publishing: past and future” was in the conference room № 230 on 31st October 2019. This meeting was organized by department of publishing-editing and art of journalism faculty. During the discussion it was raised a question related to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first Kazakh publishing house “Kazmembas”. A decree of the Central Executive Committee of the Kazakh Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic “On the creation of the Kazakh state publishing house” was adopted on November 3, 1920. This year marks the 99th anniversary of its creation. In connection with this event, famous publishers and writers of the country raised the issue of celebrating this significant event and discussed The state of modern Kazakh publishing. The agenda included many topical issues related to publishing in Kazakhstan, the distribution of the book product, the development of book science and reading, the system of electronic book publishing, royalties, etc., etc.  The reports were made by the director of the publishing house "Kazygurt" T.Kopbaev, vice-president of the “Almatykitap” publishing house A.U. Suzhikova, Director of the “Kazakh Encyclopediasy” Publishing House Zh.Toybaeva, Director of the “Kazakhstan” Publishing House A. Sadyrova, representatives of the Economy, “Atamura”, “Mektep” publishing houses and representatives of the Book Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In his speech, the director of the publishing house "Kazygurt" T. Kopbaev dwelt on the pressing problems of publishing. Vice-President of “Almatykitap” Publishing House A.U. Suzhikova shared the experience of her publishing house, talked about ways to enter the book market. The editor-in-chief of “Atamura” publishing house R. Raibaeva expressed the opinion that highly qualified specialists are being trained and graduated from the university: editors, proofreaders, designers, etc. The roundtable participants who spoke in the debate dwelt in detail on the pressing issues of modern publishing and made many constructive proposals. In the conclusion of roundtable was special resolution.
