AL-FARABI’S HOUSE OPENED IN DELHI

In order to implement the state program «Rukhani Zhangiru» and the main provisions of the article of the Leader of the nation N.A. Nazarbayev «Seven Faces of the Great Steppe», Al-Farabi Kazakh National University opened the House of Al-Farabi in Delhi. The project was implemented by KazNU with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in India.

The solemn opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Kiren Rijiju, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of India Bulat Sarsenbayev, Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU academician Galym Mutanov, representatives of the government and business circles, diplomatic missions in India, Universities, the Media and the public.

The opening of the Al-Farabi House is dedicated to the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Al-Farabi, which will be held under the auspices of UNESCO in 2020. The House is located in the diplomatic center of Delhi and it will serve as a platform for cooperation between Kazakhstan and India in the field of science, education and culture.

The Minister for Youth and Sports Mr. Rijiju, highlighting the dynamic development of comprehensive fruitful cooperation between the two countries, highly appreciated the significant contribution of KazNU in strengthening the cultural and humanitarian partnership with India. He expressed confidence that the opening of the Al-Farabi House will contribute to enhancing mutually beneficial collaboration, opening up new opportunities for the implementation of joint projects.

«The opening of the Al-Farabi House in India is a significant event that brings the peoples of our friendly countries together. In the current conditions of the global crisis, the loss of cultural and spiritual values, the creative heritage of the philosopher of civilization, his scientific thoughts are of particular relevance for the further development of mankind», - said in his speech Galym Mutanov, Rector of KazNU.

In the House, visitors can learn the unique information about the life and work of the great oriental thinker Abu Nasr al-Farabi as well as the works of a scientist who made a fundamental contribution to many areas of human knowledge. There one can also find out more knowledge about the Kazakh culture, traditions and achievements of modern Kazakhstan.

During the event, the presentation of the book about Mahatma Gandhi, «Thoughts and sayings of Gandhi», which was published in Al-Farabi KazNU in three languages, was held.

It should be noted that KazNU is actively promoting the work dedicated to research and popularization of the creative heritage of Al-Farabi. Twelve Al-Farabi research and educational centers have been opened at the leading Universities of Turkey, Jordan, Italy, China, Egypt, Bulgaria and other countries, and they are successfully operating, where the priceless heritage of the philosopher, culture and traditions of the Kazakh people are being promoted, and the Kazakh language is being studied.

The cooperation of the leading Kazakhstani University with partners from India is actively developing not only in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, but also in the field of high technologies. It is noteworthy that the first domestic nanosatellite -«Al-Farabi-1», which was created by young scientists of KazNU, was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in India.

In the course of the visit, Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Galym Mutanov has met with the National Coordinator of the Government of India on Cyber Security, Lieutenant General Rajesh Pant and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Dr. Yogesh K. Tyagi. The issues of establishing a center and joint training of specialists in cyber security, including the developing scientific and innovative and educational projects in areas of mutual interest have been discussed.
