President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in awarded the Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU academician Galym Mutanov with a medal.

In Almaty, within the World Korean Forum dedicated to the preservation of peace in the Korean Peninsula, Pak Yong Il, Director of the Department for Political Partnership of the Ministry of Unification of Korea, handed over a high award, appreciation and a personal gift on behalf of the President to Rector of KazNU Galym Mutanov.

Pak Yong Il noted that the Rector of KazNU was awarded a high medal for his outstanding activity in the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea in the field of science and education, strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries and promoting the establishment of people's diplomacy to unite Korea.

«We are grateful to Al-Farabi KazNU and his leader Galym Mutanov for his support and invaluable contribution to the strengthening of relations between the two countries and the process of unification of the Korean Peninsula. A delegation from the DPRK participates in the Forum for the first time, and this gives us hope for a better future for Korea's unification», - highlighted Pak Yong Il by presenting the medal.

Speakers of the Forum noted the growing peacekeeping role of Kazakhstan and a high confidence in it in international arena. And the fact that the delegation of the DPRK took part in the work of the Forum that was held in KazNU after the recent meeting of the Heads of two States of the Korean Peninsula testifies to the great importance of the event in the peaceful process of unification of the North and South.
