Educational outcomes

1. ON1 To possess a scientific world view and to interpret modern scientific looks, theories and   conceptions in the context of researches and conformities to law of development of science, for the decision of theoretical, methodological and applied tasks and problems of service business.

2. Able to apply in practice scientific and professional knowledge, pedagogical skills and abilities, for the implementation of the educational process in a higher school in the specialty «Restaurant and hotel business».

3. Ensures the development of the curriculum with the accompanying educational and methodological complex of the discipline, in accordance with the current trends in the development of the service sector for the implementation of the educational process in higher education, specialized institutions for advanced training and retraining of personnel with higher education.

4. Possesses deep professional theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to conduct scientific research and make adequate decisions in the field of sustainable development of the environment and rational environmental control in hospitality.

5. Applies modern techniques and develops scenario development in the field of national and regional planning of the hospitality industry.

6. Organizes processes of effective communication in a multicultural and foreign language environment, inter-functional interaction with interested market participants, negotiates, resolves conflict situations.

7. Conducts a marketing analysis of the market, all types of activities of placement enterprises, develops strategic, medium-term and operational plans of the enterprise, and implements mechanisms to improve the efficiency of economic activities, the quality of service and sales.

8. Applies information technologies (including GIS and GDS) to solve the problems of booking, automated control, design, forecasting in the hospitality industry, simulates situations of possible achievement of threshold values through the introduction of information technologies in the hotel and restaurant business.

9. Applies in professional activities the methodology of the process approach in managing the quality of the formation of hospitality services; implements the systematic application of international systems and quality standards in the production process (including: TQM, Kaizen, 6 sigma, ISO, TPS).

10. Forms and substantiates ways to overcome the contradictions in the development of the hospitality market by means of forecasting development, taking into account global trends and national programming,

Demonstrates the results of independent scientific or applied research in the selected area of the restaurant and hotel business in the form of a business plan model, training material, presentations, explanatory notes, reports, articles and a dissertation in accordance with the requirements and conditions of a multicultural and foreign language environment.

12. Manages the improvement of personal development, evaluates the level of one's own educational training and builds a personal trajectory for further professional training.

Academic activities

The academic activity of the EP is carried out:

within the framework of existing regulatory documents and methodical guidelines in the field of higher education in the field of services,

as a result of the implementation of regulations governing the educational and methodological process at the university;

by generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

by current and long-term planning of educational and methodological work of the university; by coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (EMCD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

by monitoring the provision of the educational process with educational and methodological materials, by documenting the results;

by development of teaching materials; by development and implementation of a working curriculum.

Scientific activity

For the implementation of the educational program at the faculty there are:

a specialized tourism office;

special tourist equipment and for field expeditionary research;

GDS “SABER” specialized class/laboratory;

GIS laboratory;

communication and technical equipment with appropriate software support.

 

Scientific directions of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism:

recreational geography and territorial organization of tourism;

ensuring sustainable development of tourism in Kazakhstan;

development of the concept and formation of the foundations of social tourism in Kazakhstan;

assessment of tourist and recreational loads on the ecosystems of specially protected natural areas;

development of the geographical basis for the development and territorial organization of agritourism;

planning and organization of ecological tourism in specially protected natural areas of Kazakhstan;

scientific support of digital innovations in the tourism and hospitality industry;

innovative technologies in the field of professional tourism education.

International activities

Academic mobility is implemented on the basis of relevant agreements with partner universities, including foreign universities, in particular, Kodolanyi Janos University of Applied Sciences (Hungary), Anadolu University and Ankara University (Turkey), Belgorod National Research University, Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin, St. Petersburg University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, RUDN University (Russia), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) (China), etc. There is a possibility of academic mobility within the framework of the Tourism Sub-Alliance of University Alliance of the Silk Road (Xi'an, Hong Kong, Samarkand, Almaty), network programs of UNWTO TedQual. Program participants (more than 80 leading specialized universities in the world), international programs MEVLANA, Erasmus +, etc.

The program was developed on the basis of the Professional standards of the tourism industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the participation of employers, taking into account the experience of foreign partner universities and the possibility of integration into the international educational space.
