The purpose of the EP

Preparation of scientific-pedagogical and managerial personnel of the highest category, capable of solving scientific and applied problems in the service sector:

to carry out interfunctional interaction and interaction with the subjects of the external environment, planning resource requirements, human resource management, maintaining a unified corporate culture;

to carry out market analysis, resource planning, sales management services in the restaurant and hotel business;

to ensure the teaching of disciplines in the sphere of restaurant and hotel business at the university on the basis of the latest scientific concepts through the evaluation of their content, development prospects and influence on the formation of the modern market;

carry out work with the involvement of modern information technologies;

integrate the knowledge of related scientific areas in the context of their own scientific research; process the results, draw up the results of scientific research in the master's thesis, scientific publications.

Educational outcomes

ON1 Interprets modern scientific ideas, concepts and theories in the field of hospitality to solve scientific and applied problems in new and unfamiliar contexts, multicultural and foreign-speaking environments.

ON 2 Applies scientific and professional knowledge in the practice of the educational process in higher education in the specialty "Restaurant and hotel business" in compliance with pedagogical tact, the rules of pedagogical ethics and universal and national values.

ON 3 Develops a curriculum of training course of current scientific content for teaching in the context of modern requirements of pedagogy of vocational education of higher education, specialized institutions of advanced training and retraining of personnel with higher education.

ON 4 Critically evaluates modern scientific concepts and theories in the field of hospitality to determine the object and subject of independent research, correctly selects a system of methods of independent research in accordance with the nature of the object and the methodology of the scientific direction

ON 5 Develops a scenario and implements independent scientific and applied research, focused on obtaining the expected result in the studied areas.

ON 6 Implements effective communications in a multicultural and foreign language environment, interfunctional interaction and interaction with interested actors, negotiates, resolves conflict situations

ON 7Conducts a strategic, situational, comprehensive economic analysis of the market, all types of activities of the enterprise, develops a business plan of the unit, measures to improve the efficiency of economic activity, quality of service and sales.

ON 8 Uses of information technologies (including GIS and GDS) to solve the problems of booking, automated management, design, forecasting in the hospitality sector, introduces innovative technologies and changes in the management of hospitality enterprises

ON 9 Manages human resources, the quality management system and the current activities of the unit, plans the organizational structure and labor resources, supports a professional and corporate culture, and complies with the mandatory requirements and standards for the enterprise, institution, organization of the hospitality industry.

ON 10 Carries out a predictive assessment of the dynamics of the industry, the activities of its individual sectors and specific enterprises, makes decisions and formulates judgments based on incomplete or limited information, in unusual situations

ON 11 Presents the results of independent scientific or applied research in the selected area of the restaurant and hotel business in the form of a business plan, training material, presentation, reports, articles and dissertations in a multicultural and foreign language environment.

ON 12 Manages its own development, its own activities, evaluates the level of its own educational preparation and builds a personal trajectory of further professional training.

Academic activities

The academic activity of the EP is carried out:

within the framework of existing regulatory documents and methodical guidelines in the field of higher education in the field of services,

as a result of the implementation of regulations governing the educational and methodological process at the university;

by generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

by current and long-term planning of educational and methodological work of the university; by coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (EMCD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

by monitoring the provision of the educational process with educational and methodological materials, by documenting the results;

by development of teaching materials; by development and implementation of a working curriculum.

Scientific activity

For the implementation of the educational program at the faculty there are:

a specialized tourism office;

special tourist equipment and for field expeditionary research;

GDS “SABER” specialized class/laboratory;

GIS laboratory;

communication and technical equipment with appropriate software support.


Scientific directions of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism:

recreational geography and territorial organization of tourism;

ensuring sustainable development of tourism in Kazakhstan;

development of the concept and formation of the foundations of social tourism in Kazakhstan;

assessment of tourist and recreational loads on the ecosystems of specially protected natural areas;

development of the geographical basis for the development and territorial organization of agritourism;

planning and organization of ecological tourism in specially protected natural areas of Kazakhstan;

scientific support of digital innovations in the tourism and hospitality industry;

innovative technologies in the field of professional tourism education.

International activities

Academic mobility is implemented on the basis of relevant agreements with partner universities, including foreign universities, in particular, Kodolanyi Janos University of Applied Sciences (Hungary), Anadolu University and Ankara University (Turkey), Belgorod National Research University, Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin, St. Petersburg University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, RUDN University (Russia), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) (China), etc. There is a possibility of academic mobility within the framework of the Tourism Sub-Alliance of University Alliance of the Silk Road (Xi'an, Hong Kong, Samarkand, Almaty), network programs of UNWTO TedQual. Program participants (more than 80 leading specialized universities in the world), international programs MEVLANA, Erasmus +, etc.

The program was developed on the basis of the Professional standards of the tourism industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the participation of employers, taking into account the experience of foreign partner universities and the possibility of integration into the international educational space.
