 The aim of the program is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of chemistry, chemical science and the chemical industry with a complex of fundamental knowledge and skills in basic methods of studying chemical processes, substances and materials, and capable of critical assessment and analysis of chemical science and industry modern problems.

Upon completion of this program, it is expected that the doctoral students will be able: 

1 Critically analyze and evaluate modern scientific achievements in the field of chemistry and physics, generating new ideas in solving research and practical problems;

2 To design and carry out comprehensive research, including interdisciplinary, based on a holistic systematic scientific worldview using knowledge in the field of history and philosophy of science;

3 To equate and critically evaluate the reliability and reliability of data sources, information and digital content in the field of various areas of modern physics and chemistry;

4 Use digital tools and technologies to organize collaboration and the production of new knowledge in a team, ensuring the protection of devices and digital content;

5 Propose alternative solutions to research and practical problems in the field of chemistry and physics, calculating potential gains / losses in the implementation of these options;

6 To form and argumentatively defend one's own position on various problems of modern natural science, using the provisions and categories of philosophy for the analysis of various physico-chemical processes and phenomena;

The normative term for mastering the educational program of doctoral studies in the specialty "8D053-Chemistry" is 3 years (for full-time education). The complexity of the educational program of doctoral studies in the specialty "8D053-Chemistry" is 180 credits (ECTS). The volume of the doctoral program, realized for 1 academic year, is 60 ECTS, for 2 academic year 60 ECTS, and 60 ECTS for 3 academic year. The program is built on a budgetary and paid basis, is of a practical-oriented nature, is taught in Kazakh, Russian and English-

The faculty has the following laboratories for the implementation of the educational program: Laboratory of Organic Synthesis, Laboratory Chemistry of Natural Compounds and an accredited laboratory of organic synthesis and chemistry of drugs, a national open laboratory of nanotechnology,laboratory of polymers, laboratory of analitical chemistry, laboratory of rare elements, laboratory of colloid chemistry, laboratory physical chemistry, laboratory of catalysis, laboratory petrochemistry, of chemical physics.

Base of practics:

Center for Physical and Chemical Methods of Research and Analysis, Research Institute of New Chemical Technologies and Materials, Institute of Problems of Combustion. On the basis of these centers, the professional practice of doctoral students is conducted, during which they master modern technologies of analysis and production.

Personnel potential: 29 doctors of science and professors of KKSON (VAK), 40 candidates of sciences and associate professors of KKSON (VAK), 10 doctors of PhD.


Scientific schools or scientific directions:

- development of rational, high-tech, economically and environmentally sound methods for the synthesis of new organic substances with desired properties;

- determination of the relationship between the structure of the synthesized substances, their chemical properties and activity to identify the most effective drugs for medicine, agriculture, the manufacture of additives, fillers, stabilizers, etc.

- the creation on the basis of plant substances of new highly effective medicines of a wide spectrum of action (ointment, syrup, capsules, suppositories);

-development of new effective f bio-and nanosorbents based on natural raw materials of Kazakhstan for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment;

- creation of composite stabilizers of foams, emulsions, suspensions and aerosols for use in the pharmaceutical, food, oil industry, fire fighting and environmental problems;

- kinetics and mechanism of radical copolymerization;

- synthesis and characterization of polymers for biomedical purposes;

- development of new catalytic and electrochemical technologies for processes of petrochemical, inorganic and organic synthesis, oil and gas processing;

- catalytic fine organic synthesis, chemistry of organophosphorus compounds and petrochemistry (carbonylation of olefins, carboxylation of oxyarenes and aminoarenes with carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide; search for catalytic systems based on palladium phosphine complexes for hydroalkoxycarbonylation of olefins with carbon monoxide and alcohols under mild conditions;

- research in the field of homogeneous catalysis; activation and functionalization of low-valence phosphorus compounds with transition metal complexes;

- development of catalysts based on modified polymer-substituted complexes of metals with variable valence for liquid-phase catalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons, etc.
