Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this educational program, students are expected to be able to:

1. Analyze the tasks of scientific research in the field of integrated geography and nature management for the preparation of analytical reviews and economic forecasts on the problem under study based on abstracting scientific papers, cartographic images;

2. Possess theoretical knowledge about the geographic shell of the Earth to determine the role of climatic, soil-hydrological and biological factors in the development of natural processes and phenomena, as well as to identify their relationship in the natural complex.

3. To use the ethical and ecological principles underlying the natural - law doctrine of al-Farabi and Abai for the regulation of control, planning of human economic activity and the formation of anthropogenic complexes.

4. Determine the role of the branches of geographical science in the use of natural resources for the environmental assessment of rational nature management and the development of an integrated scheme for nature protection in solving regional socially significant problems;

5. Monitor the development of natural phenomena using remote sensing and GIS technology, integrating interdisciplinary knowledge and cartographic research methods in modeling geosystems;

6. To develop environmental protection measures against the manifestations of hazardous natural and man-made phenomena and processes to assess environmental risk and consequences using innovative research methods;

7. Conduct laboratory research on the collection, storage, processing and transmission of remote sensing data for monitoring, forecasting and mapping the development of geodynamic processes, natural and man-made systems based on geoinformation technologies;

8. Use the laws of the formation of relief and natural complexes of the earth's surface, the development of exogenous and endogenous processes to assess and forecast development based on the component and system analysis of geosystems;

9. Demonstrate skills in GIS software, using methods of searching and exchanging information in global and local networks to create a database based on digital technologies and remote sensing data.

10. Conduct an environmental assessment of the impact of economic activities on the environment, as well as manifestations of unfavorable natural-man-made processes and phenomena for making management decisions to reduce risks and geoecological problems

11. Analyze the development of natural hazards and processes leading to emergency situations and environmental risks based on geoinformation mapping

12. Carry out a search, critical analysis and synthesis of information, spatial data in a GIS-environment and create safe living conditions for people in the event of emergencies;
