Purpose of EP

The purpose of the program is to train highly qualified specialists in nuclear medicine at the junctions of nuclear physics and medicine, ready to work in cooperation with physicians, for the scientific, industrial and medical-clinical spheres.   Provide training for students with the skills necessary to perform quality nuclear medicine procedures: radionuclide diagnostics and radionuclide therapy; radiopharmaceuticals; radiation safety of personnel and patients; radiation control of residential, medical and industrial premises.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this educational program, students are expected to be able to:

  1. to Apply theoretical knowledge and research methods in the field of nuclear medicine for the organization, establishment and maintenance of nuclear-physical medical facilities; to distinguish the main types of target devices used for the development of radioactive isotopes for nuclear medicine;
  2. Conduct exploratory research in the development of research methods in the field of nuclear medicine using the latest achievements of modern technologies; perform nuclear imaging using modern specialized gamma-recording cameras equipped with a detection system and computer software;

10.  to Organize methodical assistance to the radiologist in statistical processing of results of radionuclide diagnostic researches, in use of programs and algorithms of the computer analysis and recognition of radionuclide and multimodal images.

11.  support The need for continuous professional training and improvement of their knowledge and skills throughout their professional activities. Analyze information from various sources, discuss in global computer networks. Independently to master new information technologies.

12.  Observe ethical principles in all professional interactions with patients, colleagues and society at large, regardless of ethnicity, culture, gender, economic status or sexual orientation.

Academic activity

Academic activity of the EP is carried out:

- within the framework of existing regulatory documents and methodological recommendations in the field of higher education in the field of physical and nuclear medicine sciences;

- as a result of the implementation of regulatory documents regulating the educational and methodological process at the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

- current and long-term planning of the educational and methodological work of the university; coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (EMCD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- monitoring the provision of the educational process with teaching materials, documenting the results;

- development of teaching materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum.

Scientificactivity

To implement the educational program, the department cooperates with the Kazakh Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology, where students will undergo professional and industrial practices, as well as laboratories for radiation therapy and radiation diagnostics.

Internationalactivity

The competence and requirements of the nuclear Medicine certification Board (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) and the training programs for specialists in nuclear medicine and medical physics of MEPhI, Tomsk state University, University at Buffalo were analyzed and taken into account in the development of the Educational program.

The educational program is based on the competence approach. The final results of the training are formulated in accordance with the competencies of Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and the recommendations of the International atomic energy Agency (IAEA).
