The purpose of the educational program " Big-Data and journalism" - High-quality training of highly qualified specialists with skills in working with new technological tools and technologies in the field of information processing and production.

The implementation of the educational program is aimed at creating a professional personality of a specialist:

The two-degree master's program in information processing and production has been developed with the aim of creating a global vision for graduates with a specialty aimed at analyzing the journalists they are facing and successfully promoting graduates of the program in the labor market. Graduates will acquire competencies that enable them to work effectively on skills to work with new technological tools and technologies at the community level and other areas, including at the international level.

Upon completion of this EP it is expected that undergraduates will be able to:

  1. Argumentate the Big-data technological process and its application in journalism, classify the basic concepts of data-journalism about the mechanisms of interaction with converged media to create visual content and analytics.
  2. Compare, contrast and solve problems in the field of statistical analysis and their application in the work of a journalist, analyze various types of texts within the framework of a research context.
  3. Design, analyze and implement projects with big data, possess basic programming skills in Python, demonstrate working with information sources.
  4. Differentiate, argue and cope with complex issues of modeling and classification of data mining for data mining, necessary for decision-making in various areas of journalism.
  5. Conduct an experiment, summarize the results and manage tasks in the field of machine learning, artificial intelligence and data mining using mathematical statistics to create high-quality media content and higher education using modern educational technologies.
  6. Analyze and integrate the process of solving problems with complex data necessary for searching, receiving and transforming content and their integration for mining. Prepare a project to create and manage artificial intelligence to organize the work of a data journalist.
  7. Formulate judgments based on incomplete or limited information in the field of designing and evaluating interfaces for data visualization and info graphics, for the work of a converged edition and its management.
  8. Plan and carry out experiments, solve design problems of obtaining, evaluating, integrating and analyzing and visualizing data in computer linguistics used in subject-oriented information systems.
  9. Describe, justify and present the scientific results of the digital media business using open data and use applied technologies to ensure the work of a journalist date.
  10. Possess the ability to adapt, implement, analyze and competently use the acquired knowledge that allows holistically solve the problems of data journalism and demonstrate the results.
  11. Develop research projects on interactive journalism and a digital start-up using multimedia technologies to integrally solve the problems of data journalism.
  12. Be able to objectively assess their achievements in the field of data journalism, to be able to further identify areas of personal and professional development. Obtaining a double master's degree from Kazakhstan and abroad within the two-year program. Prospects for employment after completing the dual degree program.
