Training highly qualified personal for the publishing sphere and scientific,pedagogical activity, able to interpret and summarize modern knowledge of the latest theories in the field of book studies, innovative practices of publishing; independently carry out research; build their own program of further training and research activities.

Learning outcomes

  1. Able to search, analyze, compare, verify and interpret information from various sources, create media texts on significant international topics.
  2. Able to build strategies and tactics of cross-cultural communications, as well as how to  identify current events of global culture to create journalistic materials that are significant for the audience.
  3. Able to differentiate types, methods of risks and threats when interpreting international news.
  4. Able to develop information products with surveys, audio and video information; own research methods (personal research, online surveys).
  5. Able to apply consulting, expert and analytical assessment of international sustainable development issues for the development of media texts; to design a sociological and political science analysis of the state of Kazakhstan's mass media and prospects for their development in modern conditions of world integration and globalization of the media sphere.
  6. Able to recognize the technologies of propaganda, manipulation, NLP, their influence on the media; carry out fact-checking of information.
  7. Able to predict the dynamics of the development of modern society, the information field and information security for building a media strategy; be able to make managerial decisions, manage correspondent points of domestic and world media, carry out information activities in the structures of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions.
  8. Able to explain and differentiate the global media business, transnational media systems and corporations in order to introduce the technology of info-management consulting and designing the media sphere in the domestic media market.
  9. Able to differentiate network journalism of the Web 2.0 information society era, form public discourse on social networks, able to create information security strategies in new media.
  10. Able to integrate the latest achievements of the theory and practice of international journalism into the professional activities of an international journalist, analyze aspects of media participation in solving global problems of our time, explain the specifics of the multipolarity of informational flows, the vectors of their influence on the world economy and politics, from the point of view of legal and ethical standards in media.
  11. Able to design and conduct lecture, seminar, practical, laboratory classes using various strategies and teaching methods; apply the educational standards of journalism in UNESCO format; use the methods of formation of positive self-esteem among students, civil (Kazakhstan) identity, ability to resist any kind of aggression and discrimination; to develop scientific and methodological complexes, teaching materials, copyright courses; introduce research results into practical pedagogical activity.
  12. Able to design, plan and conduct international research and creative projects; be able to work with domestic and foreign scientific and methodological literature as part of a dissertation research; create scientific papers, write articles on the results of scientific research in foreign and domestic scientific journals, use the latest developments and innovative research by scientists with a high H-index.
