The goal

High-quality training of professional personnel for the scientific and educational areas of higher educational institutions capable of:- critically evaluate and interpret the latest achievements of the theory and practice of journalism;- develop and apply new ideas in the information system within the contexts under study;- solve professional and other problems in new and unfamiliar contexts;- bear social and ethical responsibility for the results of professional and scientific activities;- to plan and carry out public performances using the skills of oratory.

Learning outcomes

  1. To analyze current problems and prospects for the development of journalism, based on the economic and political mechanisms of their functioning, legal and ethical regulation.
  2. To coordinate the process of creating journalistic texts in demand by society and industry, to predict the preferences of the audience.
  3. Evaluate journalistic texts of various styles and genres, as well as its potential appeal to the audience.
  4. Edit the media text, taking into account its structure, semantics, pragmatics, stylistics, rhetoric, linguistic-formatted features, modality.
  5. Design scenarios for the implementation of research projects based on information and methodologies for its study. 
  6. To build trajectories of professional improvements.
  7. Develop requirements for the selection and implementation of a particular content, prepare for broadcast / release a finished product.
  8. To design information and software products that help holistically solve journalism problems using digital media.
  9. Keep in touch with professional communities, experts, analysts, competitors, partners, newsmakers.
  10. Develop interactive forms of seminar / laboratory classes and apply them in the educational process.
  11. Based on analytical information, develop a media concept, an organization’s development plan, determine a media product development strategy.
  12. Use social and multicultural differences to solve problems in professional journalistic activities, taking into account the norms of tolerance and impartiality in reporting on events.

Training of students is carried out in the framework of the scientific schools of the founders of digital media, analytical journalism in Kazakhstan: M. K. Barmankulov, N. Omasheva, Z. G. Ibraeva, S. H. Barlybaeva, Sultanbaeva and scientific schools in the field of artificial Intelligence and big data Telemtayeva M. M., T. N. Biyarova , N. T. Danayevа, U. A. Tukeeva.

The scientific potential of the department is represented by highly qualified specialists: professors, associate professors, invited foreign professors, employees of the media field, mathematical cybernetics and information systems, which allows for the training of undergraduates. The teaching staff is represented by domestic and invited foreign specialists with extensive practical and research experience.
