The goal

The purpose of the educational program "Data journalism" -high-quality training of highly qualified mass media personnel in the field of analysis and visualization of big data, owning the skills of digital technologies and the basis of artificial intelligence for journalism.The implementation of the educational program is aimed at the formation of a professional personality of a specialist capable of:- to interpret and summarize the modern knowledge of the latest theories in the field of big-date and classify the basic concepts of date-journalism;- independently carry out research in the field of date journalism;- to interpret the results of their own scientific research and apply the tools of statistical analysis;- integrate knowledge at the intersection of the sciences of information technology and mass communication in the context of their own scientific research;- ensure the effectiveness of the educational process on the basis of innovative methods of researching the problem of journalism using open data sources;- build his/her own program for further training and research activities in computational linguistics, data visualization and infographics.

Learning outcomes

1. Argumentate the Big-data technological process and its application in journalism, classify the basic concepts of data-journalism about the mechanisms of interaction with converged media to create visual content and analytics.
2. To compare, to contrast and solve problems in the field of statistical analysis and their application in the work of a journalist, analyze different types of texts within the research context.
3. Design, analyze and implement projects with big data, have basic programming skills in Python, demonstrate the work with information sources.
4. Able to integrate knowledge and cope with complex issues of modeling and data mining classification for data mining, necessary for making decisions in various areas of journalism
5. Able to apply his knowledge and manage tasks in the field of machine learning, artificial intelligence and in-depth data analysis using mathematical statistics to create high-quality content in the mass-media sphere
6. Analyze and integrate the process of solving problems with complex data necessary for searching, receiving and transforming content and their integration for mining. Prepare a project to create and manage artificial intelligence to organize the work of a data journalist.
7. Formulate judgments based on incomplete or limited information in the field of design and evaluation of interfaces for data visualization and infographics for the work of convergent editions and to manage it
8. Plan and carry out experiments, solve design problems of obtaining, evaluating, integrating and analyzing and visualizing data in computer linguistics used in subject-oriented information systems.
9. Describe, justify and present the scientific results of the digital media business using open data and use applied technologies to ensure the work of a journalist date.
10. To have the ability to adapt, implement, analyze and competently use acquired knowledge to solve problems, allowing them to solve data-journalism problems in a holistic way and demonstrate the results obtained
11. Develop research projects on interactive journalism and a digital start-up using multimedia technologies to integrally solve the problems of data journalism.
