EP purpose

The purpose of the educational program is: training a specialist with in-depth knowledge in the field of ichthyology, hydrobiology, aquaculture, protection of aquatic biological resources and industrial fisheries professionally proficient in foreign languages; Specialist who can analyze and manage natural and artificial populations of aquatic animals that can perform the functions of an ichthyologist and fish breeder in state and interstate bodies and institutions that can conduct research in the field of aquatic biological resources.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this program, it is expected that students will be able to:

ON1 Analyze and describe the diversity of the animal world, specific features and properties of a living organism, patterns of functioning of aquatic biological systems at various levels of organization, biochemical and hydrochemical processes in reservoirs;

ON2 Explain the regularities of the formation of aquatic flora, apply the skills of comparative morphological method for self-determination of the systematic belonging of aquatic plant objects and hydrobionts. Master the conceptual and terminological apparatus in the field of hydrochemistry, biochemistry, histology, Hydrobiology, ichthyology, fisheries and aquaculture;

ON3 Use knowledge of biology and morphology of vertebrates and invertebrates, fish, hydrobionts and aquatic plants. Conduct experiments with model organisms and test systems to determine the rate of growth, reproduction and development of hydrobionts in various aquatic biocenoses

ON4 Be able to plan the activities of fish-breeding enterprises, analyze the economic state of fisheries, implement different methods of fisheries management in reservoirs of various ecological and fish-breeding zones; analyze the effectiveness of methods of fisheries management;

ON5 Assess the quality and safety of work in the fisheries industry, perform the duties of an ichthyologist and fish breeder in public and private organizations and institutions, carry out fish-breeding activities on various types of fish farms, analyze the state of exploitation and protection of natural aquatic biological resources, apply production technology in aquaculture;

ON6 Apply modern methods of fisheries research to determine the cause of fish diseases; know the classification of fish feed and feeding technology for valuable aquaculture objects; calculate the economic efficiency of the technologies used for growing and feeding fish and other aquatic organisms, assess the costs and benefits of the exploitation of natural aquatic biological resources;

ON7 To use methods of industrial fishing on fishing reservoirs of various purposes; to know the classification of industrial fishing tools, means of fish protection, to analyze the economic efficiency of applying fishing tools on reservoirs;

ON8 Iis capable of analytical thinking, logic, analysis, scientific research and creative solutions to problems in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, has the skills to collect, systematize and generalize primary data in the field of diversity and the state of aquatic biological resources; prepare reports, publications, references and analytical reviews on professional activities, referencing texts, carrying out fishing, conservation and fish-breeding operations;

ON9 Master synthesis techniques and methods of personal self-expression and self-development. He is competent in the field of modern methods of accounting for aquatic biological resources, fisheries, akavakultury and protection of individual species and ecosystems; professional activities of an ichthyologist, hydrobiologist and fish breeder.

ON10 Ability to self-study at the end of the curriculum, to expand their knowledge based on information and educational technologies; ability to choose the priorities of educational and research activities;

ON11 Analyzes information from various sources in global computer networks. Can

build professional relationships with colleagues and management, constantly improve their skills and are ready to continue their education in the master's program;

Academic activity

The academic activity of the OP is carried out:

- within the framework of existing regulatory documents and methodological recommendations in the field of higher education in the field of agricultural sciences;

- as a result of the implementation of regulatory documents regulating the educational and methodological process at the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

- current and prospective planning of the educational and methodological work of the university; coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (UMKD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- monitoring the provision of the educational process with teaching materials, documenting the results;

- development of teaching materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum.

Scientific activity

To implement the educational program, the department has scientific laboratories in the following areas•

* Animal Ecology;

* Morphology of animals;

* Parasitology;

Research and Production Center: "Aquaculture and fish diseases";

Collection - formalin room for invertebrates and vertebrates, where about 500 species of animals are collected.

The department also has scientific - school seminars, where undergraduates, doctoral students and young teachers report on the results of their scientific work.

International activity

The department's partners are foreign universities and institutes with which agreements on academic mobility and cooperation have been signed: Institute of Cytology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Laboratory of Cellular Pathology (Russia), Laboratory of Pharmacological Research.

The Department has its own branch on the basis of Zoology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Quality assurance (Accreditation, rating, work with employers)

• In 2015, the Master's degree specialty was accredited by the International Accreditation Organization ASIIN (Germany) for 4 years, the license period is from 2015 to 2019.

Rating of the educational program

The specialty of Fisheries and industrial fisheries participated in the rating of NAAR (Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating) and NCAOKO (Independent Kazakhstan Agency for Quality Assurance in Education) for 3 years from 2015 to 2017 and according to the results of the rating held leading positions among universities that train undergraduates in a similar ЕP: in 2015, 2016 - 1st place, in 2017 - 2nd place.
