The International Relations Department(IRD) of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the IRD, announces the competition "The Best Master's Student of IRD 2020" and "The Best PhD Student of IRD 2020" among the PhD and Master's students. The competition is open to PhD and Master's students, studying at the International Relations Department of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

      Requirements for candidates for participation in the competition "The Best PhD Student of IRD 2020":

1. Scientometric indicators:

1) the presence of articles published in journals included in the SCOPUS system, SCOPUS Proseedings, Web of Science (percentile, quartile, Hirsch indicators are taken into account);

2) the presence of articles published in the journals KOKSON;

3) participation in scientific conferences (at the level of Kazakhstan, at the international level);

2. Academic achievements:

1) The number of the best marks (according to the transcript);

2) GPA level (according to transcript);

3. Individual indicators:

1) achievements at olympiads or international competitions (scientific, academic disciplinary, sports, cultural, etc. are taken into account);

2) achievements at olympiads or competitions at the level of Kazakhstan (scientific, academic disciplinary, sports, cultural, etc. are taken into account);

      Requirements for the competition “The Best Group-advisor of IRD”

1. Implementation of the plan of educational work of the Chairs and Department

- regular conducting of curatorial hours*, and submission of reports on the conduct (in Word format, with screenshots) - at least once a month;

- carrying out the events* provided for in the plan and submitting reports on the holding (in Word format, with screenshots);

- summing up the work done for each semester of the academic year 2020-2021 (until January 25, 2021 and until May 9, 2021) - presentation of reports in Word format.

*due to quarantine, events must be held in an online format with meeting records. Records of events should be uploaded to the website www.youtube.com, with the presentation of the meeting link to the specified email address.

2. To write an essay on the topic “Improving the student life of the Department”

- Microsoft Word format, font Times New Roman, size 14, single spacing, paragraph indentation 1.25; margins: left - 3, right - 1.5, top and bottom - 2.

- The volume of the essay is no more than 4 pages.

- The full name of the curator-advisor is indicated in the upper right corner.

“Kazakhstan in Contemporary International Relations:

President K. Tokayev’s Strategy” devoted to the 25^th Anniversary of

International Relations Department

International Relations Department is pleased to host International Scientific-Practical Online-Conference “Kazakhstan in Contemporary International Relations: President K. Tokayev’s Strategy”, which will be held on November 12, 2020.

This conference is dedicated to the 25^th anniversary of al-Farabi KazNU International Relations Department.

Relevant issues of contemporary international relations, external policy and diplomacy, international law, world economy, international region studies, issues of country studies and perspectives of foreign languages improvement in the era of globalization and digital technologies will be discussed at the Conference.

Experts are expected to evaluate President K. K. Tokayev’s strategic vision of external policy of Kazakhstan on an international level, its succession from an external policy course and diplomacy of Elbasy N. A. Nazarbayev, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

International Scientific-Practical Online-Conference will host leading representatives of scientific and expert communities from Kazakhstan, CIS and other foreign states, representatives of state bodies of RK, MFA of RK, embassies and international organizations.

Working languages of the conference: Kazakh, Russian, English.

The conference is hosted by al-Farabi KazNU International Relations Department.
