New year Congratulations of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism staff

We, 2nd year students of the specialty "Tourism" of the Department of recreational geography and tourism of the faculty of geography and nature management, made a video about the educational process. Despite the distance learning mode, we liked all the subjects studied, and each of them interested us in its own aspects. In the future, thanks to the merits of our teachers and mentors, we will become qualified specialists and will participate in the development of the country's tourism industry.In this video, we also expressed our gratitude to the teacher of the discipline "Fundamentals of ecotourism" Alieva Zhannat Narikbayevna for the fact that this discipline aroused our special interest due to the relevance of the development of ecotourism in our country. We are proud that we are currently studying at the strongest University in the country, with the most qualified teachers. We express our boundless gratitude to all teachers of our Department!

On December 8, 2020, at 18.00, an online meeting was held with a representative of Baishun International Travel Company (Uzbekistan, Tashkent) Stalifa Bektursyn.

On December 7, 2020, the teacher Mominov S. A. held a curatorial hour with students of the 4th group of the 2nd year of the specialty "Tourism" of the Department of recreational geography and tourism. During the supervisor's hour, the curator-adviser of the group emphasized the role and significance of the upcoming December 16-Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since it was in this month that the historical events of Zheltoksan took place, which were a harbinger of the collapse of the Soviet Union. In addition, it was on December 16, 1991 that the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR declared Kazakhstan an independent state. From time immemorial, the independence of the Motherland has been a great dream of our people. Students shared their opinions about this day during the curatorial hour. The curatorial hour was held in a positive and friendly atmosphere.

Physical exercises are performed every Wednesday and Friday at 10: 50 am. The emphasis is on the muscles of the arms and back. It alternates every week. One week they train their arms and back, and the next week they train their waist and legs.

On December 1, 2020, at 16.00, 4th year students held the Department's Birthday party in an online format. Students perfectly organized the event, showed their talents, prepared video greetings and contests.

On November 28, 2020 (starting at 14: 00 Almaty), the al-Farabi Center of al-Farabi Kazakh national University with the support of the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an online scientific event "Science Talks "Series 5.0 Science as a driver of sustainable socio-economic development"as part of the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi.

At the master class on 23.11.2020 at 16:00, a master class was held on the topic "Standardization and regulations" and"KPI system". 56 participants participated. The first topic was about the standard in this business. For example, the main standards include: cleanliness standards (cleanliness of the hall, staff work areas, entrance group, etc.), appearance standards (staff uniforms, shoes, hairstyles, jewelry, manicure, makeup, etc.), guest service standards (scenario service, conflict situations, compliments and loyalty, meeting guests with children, sales, handling objections, feedback from the guest, etc.), food and drink serving standards (rules for taking out food and drinks, compliments and treats, serving time), serving standards (before the guest arrives, during his stay, after saying good-bye to the guests, in between serving meals, etc.)

The second topic was about the KPI system, where participants could get acquainted with the KPI of personnel and employment, kitchen management, hall and restaurant management, bar and sales and marketing.

Following the courses for hotel business teachers, KAGIR has organized similar online  courses for teachers in food and restaurant business. Participants of webinars represented not only Almaty, but also other regions of Kazakhstan. Within 3 days (November 18-20, 2020), education workers had the opportunity to get the necessary guidance from practitioners in training specialists for the field of nutrition. We sincerely glad that employers are not indifferent to the problems of education and are willing to engage in a dialogue with teachers. After all, they are united by one common goal: to use possible tools to ensure that the labor market receives in-demand specialists.
According to the teachers, the topics of the webinars turned out to be informative and diverse: from requirements for restaurant staff and food safety to marketing of food companies. The topic of adaptation of students at food enterprises was also discussed, which was described in great detail by one of the best chefs in Kazakhstan, Artem Evdokimov.
