The University of Tsukuba was  selected as a core organization  for “The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Core-to-Core Program, B. Asia-Africa Science Platforms”, with Prof. Ono Masaki (Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences) as project coordinator. 

On April 10, 2020, Prof. Ono gave a presentation on the project dubbed as "Formation of a base for training Japanese language teachers who can respond to social demands" to faculty members of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Cairo University, Uzbek State University of World Languages, and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. As part of this research project, the challenges of Japanese language education in Egypt, Uzbekistan, etc. were presented. On June 19, 2020, Ninomiya Takashi (Almaty Office Coordinator, University of Tsukuba) gave a presentation about the status and future vision of Japanese language teachers in Kazakhstan.
