This Japan-based research project began in FY2020 in collaboration with Japanese language education and research organizations in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in Central Asia, Vietnam in Southeast Asia and Egypt in Africa in order to develop Japanese language education standards, teaching materials and human resources to use them. As time passes and social systems change, the future challenges faced by each region are sure to become challenges that will have to be solved in every region. We are working together to jointly develop efficient learning methods by continuing to think about the content and methods of Japanese language education and by providing learners with mechanisms for autonomous learning. The keynote speech, presented by Dr. Andrei Bekes, will be followed by a discussion with the floor on what kind of cooperation is needed  in terms of “human resource development,” “joint education,” and “development of teaching materials” while overcome the problems posed by the pandemic. We look forward to an active exchange of ideas and information.
