On November 9th, 2021, Prof. NINOMIYAinomiya Takashi of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and coordinator of the University of Tsukuba Almaty Office Coordinator gave a presentation during the lecture on "Introduction to Career Design" at the the University of Tsukuba. He explained to about 70 undergraduate students the activities of the Almaty office and the effects of the Covid-19 infection on society and universities in Kazakhstan. Moreover, as part of Prof. NINOMIYA’s presentation, students from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, including Aisautova Aibanu and Zhalmukhambet Sholpan (both 4th year undergraduate students) and Kanapiya Aitolkyn (2nd year master's student) talked about their future plans for studying the the Japanese language. Students from the University of Tsukuba asked questions such as "What similarities do Japan and Kazakhstan have?", “What are your challenges in learning the Japanese language?” and "What kind of social problems does Kazakhstan facehave?"

On December 6th, 2021, Rector Zhanseit Tuymebaev of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a hybrid meeting with foreign professors and scientists from almost 30 countries. Bilateral and cooperation agreements have been signed with 550 universities and research centers in 50 countries. Prof. NINOMIYA Takashi, University of Tsukuba Almaty Office coordinator, presented on academic and research exchanges between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the University of Tsukuba dating back from 15 years ago. Many students in both universities have studied abroad at the partner university. Currently, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participates in the Campus-in-Campus (CiC) project and endeavors to create a much stronger partnership. Prof. NINOMIYA also mentioned the Japanese learning project for tourism in Kazakhstan that faculty members from both universities have been working on since 2021.

On November 26th, 2021, an academic seminar in methods of language education was organized by the Faculty of Pre-University Education of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Language teachers from Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, and Turkey made presentations on language teaching methods and teaching materials. From Japan, Prof. NINOMIYA Takashi of KazNU and University of Tsukuba Almaty Office coordinator introduced the Japanese learning project for tourism in collaboration with Prof. ONO Masaki of the Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba. With support from the Toshiba International Foundation, this project aims to create an online Japanese course in Kazakhstan tourism for Kazakh Japanese learners. In the course, the learners will practice sentence structures, listening, and conversation. This project focuses on explanatory practice, an important skill for travel guides, and "research and presentation" in which learners rediscover common knowledge about Kazakhstan that they may already think they know.
