Introducing the Chinese New Year to schoolchildren

Under the guidance of a teacher of the Department of Sinology of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of al-Farabi KazNU Duysenbay Kulpynay the 1st year students Tagatova Aruzhan, Malik Ayaulym, Baibatyrova Ulzhan, Zhamidolla Nurly and others visited the Central Children's Library named after. S. Begalin in Almaty. The goal was to introduce children to the Chinese New Year and the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games in collaboration with a soon-to-be-famous bookstore. First, the schoolchildren were introduced to the Chinese New Year, its origin and legend were explained. During the event, the students also shared their thoughts and taught the children Chinese characters, how to cut jianji from colored paper. As a result, the children not only got to know the Chinese New Year, but also learned a few Chinese words and learned how to make Chinese New Year decorations. It was one of the most interesting and unique events for children and we hope that there will be many more such events in the future.
