The Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the Basic Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was adopted in a popular referendum on August 30, 1995 and entered into force on September 5. The constitution consists of 9 chapters and 98 articles.

Today, on June 15, the Main Botanical garden of Almaty was opened to the public after restoration. How many citizens came to support and thank the botanists of the Institute of botany and phytointroduction of the MES RK! It is felt that our colleagues have put all their heart into this matter. Our Botanical garden is the pride of the botanical science of Kazakhstan. We are well aware of many expositions! These are expositions: «Medicinal plants», «Rare and endangered plants», «Dendrology of the north and south America», «East Asia», greenhouse, etc. Well-known scientists, florists and resource specialists, dendrologists and phytopathologists work in the garden. Colleagues, the botanists of al-Farabi KazNU congratulate you on this event.

            In the Botanical garden there is a rich material for theses and master's theses. In the shade of the majestic trees, I was able to check out my student's herbarium, which was collected this spring. At this time, we were approached by adult citizens and watched our work with interest. We were asked to give an interview by journalists and a bloggers of «Khabar». The day was very rich and memorable!

Just recently, the result of the rating of the best Universities in the world according to QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKING was published. al-Farabi KazNU entered the top 200 and took the 165th place.

It was not easy to achieve this result. After all, under the guidance of doctor of technical Sciences, Professor and member of the world Academy of Arts and Science (the World Academy of Art and Science), academician Of the national Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Mutanova Galimkair Mutanovicha the whole team and management worked on implementing new approaches and solving problems to achieve new results. The team of al-Farabi KazNU has developed its own methodology: use of new approaches-introduction of an effective system-take into account non-credits and disadvantages - identify and solve problems - achieve high results. In connection with the ongoing quarantine against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources in remote format held KazNU Alumni Day, dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi.

The online event was attended by approximately 40 people, including graduates of the department and faculty of biology and biotechnology.

Dean of the faculty, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Zayadan B.K. personally congratulated all university graduates present at the event. The Dean noted that the professors of the department are the pride of our university and called for continued development of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources.

Event moderator and head of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, Doctor of Biological Sciences Kurmanbayeva M.S. also expressed her congratulations and wished future graduates of the department all the best. Later, participants listened to the university’s anthem and congratulations from the rector of KazNU, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Mutanov G.M. and from the Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the President of the Alumni Association of KazNU, Doctor of Law, Professor Mami K.A. During the event, participants watched the video “KazNU: University, directed to the future”, dedicated to the achievements of our university and vision of the future.

In the main part, a video was shown with the achievements of the department – Smart Green House, winter garden at the Zholdasbekov Palace of Students, “Aquaponics” (artificial pond on the territory of the university), SRC “Center for the cultivation of ornamental species of fish and plants”, landscape and other works carried out by the department. The video continued with speeches by prominent and promising graduates of the faculty and department. First of all, Dr. Biol.Sc. Shalakhmetova Tamara Minazhevna, Corresponding Member of the IAS VS, spoke and reminisced on the past and showed great expectations for the bright future of the university and its students. Next, Director of the Industrial Trout Farm of MG LLP Tursynuli Marlen made a speech, followed by the Head of the bioengineering laboratory of Nazarbayev University – Askarova Sholpan participating from the capital city of Nursultan. A doctoral candidate and holder of a grant from the World Bank Nurkenov Tulendi, who is currently undergoing a one-year internship at the University of Ilinois, United States of America, made a presentation from abroad. The video clip was completed with a speech by a doctoral student of the department, a grant recipient from Rufford Small Grants and young zoologist-enthusiast Bizhanova Nazerke.

Shalakhmetova Tamara doctor of biological Sciences, Professor, corresponding member of the IHEAS

Shalakhmetova Tamara doctor of biological Sciences, Professor. In 1970, she entered the biology Department Of the Kazakh state University named after S.M. Kirov, graduating in 1975.

In 1981, she defended her dissertation for the degree of candidate of biological Sciences in the specialty "Cytology"at the dissertation Council Of the Institute of Cytology of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

1981 to 1989-research assistant at the Kaznii cardiology of the Ministry of health of the Kazakh SSR (Almaty). Since 1985, she has been a part-time senior teacher at the Department of Cytology and histology of KazGU.

Worked as Deputy Director of the research Institute of biology and biotechnology (1993-1998), Director of the research Institute of ecology (2000-2008).

1995 to 1998 she studied for a doctorate and in 1999 she defended her dissertation for the degree of doctor of biological Sciences in the specialty "Histology, embryology, cell biology".

In 2001, she received the title of Professor in the field of biology.

From 2008 to 2015, she worked as the Dean of the faculty of biology and biotechnology of al-Farabi Kazakh national University, and from 2015 to the present – Professor of the Department of biodiversity and bioresources. Is the head of a number of scientific projects, the results of which have been published in more than 350 scientific papers, including articles in highly rated journals included in the Scopus and Web of Science database, monographs, author's certificates for inventions, patents.

Participates in training, under her leadership 12 candidates of science and PhD are protected. She was the chair of the Doctoral dissertation Council for three specialties from 2000 to 2010, and is currently a member of the dissertation Council for the PhD degree. Awarded two breastplates MES, Silver medal "Al-Farabi finday ASU damuna Osan for valorous labor Les ushin" was awarded the state scientific grant for scientists and experts who have made outstanding contributions to the development of science and technology of Kazakhstan (2005-2006; 2018-2019.) and grant "the Best teacher of the University" (2010).

Excursion to the industrial trout farm LLP «MG» @ almaty_fish.kz, located in the foothills of the city of Esik. This farm grows rapidly, developing momentum and may well be a model, model farm for breeding and growing trout, since all are created here the best conditions for rearing this king’s fish, water temperature, oxygen regime, high-quality trout feed and around-the-clock sensitive care from the farm workers. And of course, successful production, our graduate Marlen is behind any successful production. 

As he always says: "Aquaculture is our future, so training must be taken with particular importance". Positive, energetic, enthusiastic, ideological, he loves all the innovations, and most importantly, Marlen devoted to his specialty is himself an ideal example for all graduates! Here I would like to thank Marlen for his direct participation, for his indifference to the rare and now trendy specialty "Fisheries" and wish him a great voyage on a big ship. This post is dedicated to the day of graduates of KazNU named after al-Farabi, which is celebrated solemnly, annually on May 25.

Sholpan Askarova, graduated bachelor's degree in 1996 and master's degree in 1999 from KazNU. She defended her dissertation in 2005, and maintained PhD doctoral program under the Bolashak program at the University of Missouri (USA) from 2006 to 2011 during this time she defended her dissertation and received PhD. Currently she is head of the bioengineering laboratory at the Center of Life Sciences of Nazarbayev University.

Nadir Mamilov-candidate of biological Sciences, associate Professor, associate Professor of the Department of biodiversity and bioresources of al-Farabi Kazakh national University.

Mamilov N. sh. is a graduate of the Kazakh state University named after S. M. Kirov in 1990. In 1996, he defended his PhD thesis at the Institute of Zoology of the KN MES RK. He started working at al-Farabi KazNU in 1990 as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Zoology and ichthyology.

He started teaching in 1995, first as an assistant, and now as an associate Professor. All his work is connected with the al-Farabi KazNU. In 2017, he received the title of associate Professor (associate Professor) in the field of biology.

Mamilov N. sh. actively participates in research work: in the period from 1990 to 1999. he was a project executor under the supervision of prof. V. Mitrofanov, from 2003 to 2017. he led the execution of research projects, currently he is the executor of 2 research projects. The results of scientific research have been published in more than 100 scientific papers, including articles in journals included in the Scopus database and Web of Science, sections in 3 monographs, according to the Scopus database has an h-index – 2.

Associate Professor Mamilov N. sh. actively participates in training, under his leadership defended 3candidates of biological Sciences. Public work: member of the Kazakhstan Committee of the UNESCO program "Man and the biosphere" (MAB), member of the international Union for conservation of nature (IUCN) working group on the conservation of fish diversity in Central Asia. Awarded the title of "Best University teacher" (2019).

In Kazakhstan, on may 9, one of the main public holidays is the Victory Day in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945. The great Patriotic war began with the beginning of the attack on the USSR on June 22, 1941, when the German fascists terminated the agreement with the Soviet-German Treaty, agreed in 1939. More than 1.2 million troops, 12 rifle divisions, four cavalry divisions, seven rifle brigades, and about 50 separate regiments and battalions were purchased from the Kazakh SSR to the front. For military exploits in the great Patriotic war was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, Halyk Kaharmany-499 Kazakhstani people, 99 of them-were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, Khalyk Kakharmany. In addition, two women – Manshuk Mametova and Aliya Moldagulova received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. 110 Kazakhstanis were awarded the order "Dank" of three degrees.
