st-year master students of the specialty "Ecology", UNESCO Chair of Sustainable Development, Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences  Akhmetzhanova Diana, Daniyarkyzy  Indira, Bidar Shabir Ahmad held an open educational hour "Garbage is the disease of the century" in order to form environmental literacy among students. The event was attended by 1st year students of the specialty "Geography". The main purpose of the educational hour is to promote the expansion of students' knowledge about the problem of household waste, ways of their recycling and reuse.
As part of the open lesson, students openly shared their thoughts, held a comprehensive discussion of the problem of garbage and ways to solve them. A quiz was held on the Kahoot platform, according to the results of which top students were encouraged with "eco-friendly" gifts, in the form of an eco-shopper. Using the Tik tok network in order to introduce young people to ecology, students made videos dedicated to the problem of garbage.
