The QS Open Clinic “Universities and Sustainable Development: From Vision to Implementation” section, moderator Vlastemil Samek, was delivered by Professor Yoo Chang Dong, Director of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, KAIST, Republic of Korea. Korea Advanced Technology Institute - South Korea's leading academic and research university. In 2019, KAIST ranked 40th in the ranking of leading universities in the world (QS WorldUniversity Rankings). The Faculty of Electrical Engineering is conducting research in the field of artificial intelligence. In the field of scientific interests prof. Yoo Chang Dong includes the development of question-and-answer video systems, image segmentation, automatic detection and recognition of objects, recognition of environmental sounds, artificial intelligence in the field of medicine, justice in artificial intelligence. After the presentation, the teachers of the department were able to discuss with the professor the issues of potential interaction. The issues of passing the summer internship of undergraduates at KAIST University, and the management of doctoral dissertations were discussed. The first-year undergraduate in the field of Computer Engineering, who works at the research institute on a grant financing project on the development of intelligent text processing tools, took part in the discussion. The professor gave his email address, links to his distance learning courses in the field of artificial intelligence and big data processing. The professor offered to do distance learning with the possibility of internship at KAIST University.Teachers of the department also visited Section 3 External Relations of the University - marketing, branding and media relations. Of particular interest was the presentation by Professor Dong Kwang Kim from Okayama University (OkayamaUniversity, Japan) on the topic "Organizational change - good or common thing for global education?". He shared his vision of Okayama University on international affairs and global education. At present, universities face a dilemma: to remain a regional educational institution or strive for the status of a research university. The professor introduced a process decentralization scheme for international academic mobility of students and international relations. Deputy Head Department of AI and BD Sakypbekova M.Zh. asked questions on the organization of this work at the faculty and department levels. After the meeting, the faculty continued to discuss issues of the internationalization of education. The professor provided his contacts for further interaction.
