My study and life experience in China

I have studied and lived in China since 2010 when I arrived to study for my PhD degree. It was the first foreign country I had travelled in for a long time. My academic life started from learning Chinese language at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing where we were taught for only 4 months.

During my stay in China, I learned and benefited a lot in my personal and academic lives. I’ve learned how to be independent, how to communicate, recognize and approach people with different backgrounds, and I became an accomplished person who knows in which direction he should advance. I achieve those insights through the interaction with different people I’ve met on my path from various countries, cultures and backgrounds.

China is a unique country with rich culture and a developed service sphere.

In 2014, I successfully graduated with a degree in Natural Sciences and became a PhD doctor in Physical Geography. This is my great achievement and has been a dream since my childhood. As a result of my hard study and productive work during my PhD, in 2017-2018 I was invited for a PostDoc under the Chinese Academy of Sciences President’s international Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) by academician Bai Chunli. During one-year stay in Urumqi, I did everything in time as I planned and scheduled. My experience in China increased my scientific potential and expanded my knowledge and academic skills.

As we know, a person develops only in society and is affected by certain people on their pathway. Certainly, there are good people such as my supervisors and best friends and partners on my life path. I am blessed and happy to have all of them. Here, I would like to mention the role of my supervisor, Prof. Jilili Abuduwaili; his comprehensive support and encouragement, as well as the kindness of my friends, were useful in helping me get settled in China. My supervisor who has a “huge” heart is my father in science. He made his own contribution in reaching and achieving heights similar to mine. Now, I am a “bridge” connecting China with Central Asian countries, in particular Kazakhstan, making my own contribution in development of science and research, exchanging wise ideas, conducting joint field works and expeditions, writing joint publications for International peer-reviewed journals and publishing houses and taking part in many other joint activities with my Chinese colleagues.

As a result of fruitful cooperation between Kazakhstan and China a Research Centre of Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Almaty) was established where I work as a scientific secretary. I’m a very lucky and happy person who is on the way to achieving everything she wants.
