On April 20, 2020, an open educational hour was held online on the Microsoft Teams platform with the participation of 3rd-year students "5B011300-Biology", 2nd-year students "5B060700-Biology", which was attended by 1st-year undergraduates of the specialty 7M05103-BIOPHYSICS, faculty of biology and biotechnology of al-Farabi KazNU. At the initiative of the President, a number of measures were taken to prevent coronavirus infection. The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Aymagambetov ordered that the universities of Kazakhstan switch to distance learning from March 16.
As a result, the teaching staff of the department of "Biophysicists and biomedicines" maintains a system of «distance learning», that is, the process of online learning in full accordance with the workload, curriculum and schedule. The teaching staff of the department uses video lessons, independent online work, extracts from online courses, MOOCs in the disciplines "Biophysics", "Human and Animal Physiology" authored by the Head of the Department, Doctor of Biologісаl Sciences, Professor S.T. Tuleukhanov and Ph.D., Professor N.T. Tormanov as a tool for distance learning.
Despite the different distances, students and undergraduates feel a great responsibility for expanding their knowledge, searching, creative thinking and dialogue, substantiating their ideas, using information resources, solving subjectivity problems, mastering knowledge and applying them in practice.

On March 26, 2020, al-Farabi Kazakh National University held the Republican subject Olympiad among University students in the specialty "5B060700-Biology". This year, due to the current epidemiological situation, the Olympiad was held remotely in the format of a video conference on the Zoom platform. 14 teams from 8 Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the distance Olympiad on the specialty "Biology". The teams of our University received prizes of 1, 2 and 3 places.
