The Al-Farabi Center has opened at the University of Tsukuba, a world-class center for education and research. This is one of the events dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the great scientist al-Farabi, organized under the auspices of the international organization UNESCO [2]. The new center will serve as a representative office of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Khabar 24 reports. The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev and the rector of KazNU named after Al-Farabi Galymkair Mutanov (online) and the rector of the University of Tsukuba Kyosuke Nagata [1]. The participants spoke about the thoughts, works and heritage of the scientist.

In 2014, in order to expand academic and scientific exchange, a representative office of the University of Tsukuba was opened on the basis of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU. During this time, the Japanese university has attracted about 300 Kazakhstani students and researchers in the humanities and social sciences. According to the rector of the University of Tsukuba Kyosuke Nagata, a memorandum was signed last year to provide universities with research and educational resources. “We look forward to collaborating in biological research, environment and materials science,” said Kyoshiku Nagata. Rector of KazNU Galym Mutanov also noted the importance of this event: “The opening of the Al-Farabi Center is a sign of great respect for the thinker and great friendship with the Kazakh people. He has great prospects. The center is aimed at joint training of specialists, increasing the number of publications of scientists from KazNU and the University of Tsukuba in international rankings, as well as the development of research activities. The center will teach the Kazakh language and introduce the history and culture of Kazakhstan.

KazNU and the University of Tsukuba have been cooperating for 13 years: they jointly implement research projects and train specialists for a double degree program. It should be noted that more than a hundred Kazakh students graduated from the Japanese University [2].
