The library is the most visited place for students. On February 5, 2019, I held around table discussion on the topic "Modern University Library" with  third-year students  of the specialty Kazakh language and literature.

The scientific library of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was founded simultaneously with the university in 1934. In 2012, the library moved to a new modern five-story building equipped withmodern facilities. The library in campus was renamed after Al-Farabi in 2014.

The library named after al-Farabiis one of the largest and leading universities of the country and has its own mission, values and vision.

Our library is always looking for new effective approaches to work with readers who seek to love books. And today, more than ever, their role in the formation of intellectual potential is increasing. Our library is:

• The largest university library in the country, with a collection of about 3 million books.

• There is an access to subscription databases and e-books of the world's largest publishers (EBooks) in the EBSCO, Springer, Elsevier databases, as well as to the full-text Polpred database, the IPRbooks electronic library system, domestic databases “Zan - Zakon”, “Epigraph”.

Al-Farabi Library is actively developing new technologies. The library has implemented an automation system based on RFID technology, which resulted in the integration of the automated library information system (ABIS) “IRBIS 64” and the use of university uniform identification cards for university staff and students (ID card) as library cards. In addition, there are copiers and a planetary scanner "ELARSKAN A2-300", with the help of which the library users can scan the necessary pages of the selected literature for free and send them to themselves by e-mail or to a USB flash drive.

Designed and launched by the Al-Farabi Library Mobile application for Android, which is available at PlayMarkethttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wLibrary_3789543.
