This year marks 29 years since the signing of a very important historical document "Decree of the President of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic of August 29, 1991, № 409" on the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. In honor of the important date, the youth organization "Nevada-Semey" Al-Farabi KazNU held a round table on the topic "Closing the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site" in an online format on the Zoom platform.

During the online round table, the chairman of the youth organization "Nevada-Semey" of Al-Farabi KazNU, senior lecturer of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development Tanabekova Gulzhanat Bakytovna spoke. The leader of the youth movement noted that this date, at the initiative of Kazakhstan, was approved by the 64th session of the UN General Assembly as the International Day against Nuclear Tests.

On behalf of the participants of the youth organization "Nevada-Semey" KazNU named after al-Farabi, a student of the specialty "Ecology" Mendibay Kuandyk spoke.

Participants of the online roundtable noted the significant role in the struggle for peace of the International Anti-Nuclear Movement "Nevada-Semey", the first public organization in Kazakhstan - the most authoritative and effective peacekeeping movement on the planet. Not without reason, by decision of UNESCO, for services to mankind, his activities are included in the World Register "Memory of the World".

The movement achieved such success, for the first time in the world applying a new model - the interaction of public and parliamentary diplomacy - taking the first real step towards general disarmament, stopping nuclear tests at the largest test sites on the planet.

As part of the round table, a video was shown about the test of a hydrogen bomb at the Semipalatinsk test site. The participants of the round table discussed topical issues related to radio safety.
