The proposed book by K. S. Musabekov "Catalog of the collection of vertebrates of the biological Museum of the al-Farabi Kazakh national University" is written in three languages (Kazakh, Russian, English), 395 p. - the result of many years of revision of the unique collection Fund of vertebrates

The proposed Catalog is the result of a long-term audit of the unique collection fund of vertebrate animals of the Biological Museum of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which includes 7888 specimens belonging to 70 orders, 217 families and 866 species of animals.

Already 80 more than there is a biological museum of the Kazakh national university of the name Аль-Фараби, also having rich zoological collection of the world animals, - the largest among higher educational establishments of republic. These collections meet the requirements of article 8 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 9, 2004 "on protection, reproduction and conservation of the animal world of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and government Resolution No. 1413 of December 24, 2014 " on approval of the rules for creating and storing Zoological collections.

They behave to the scientific, cultural and educational, учебно-воспитательной and aesthetic value. The systematized collections are registered in accordance with established procedure: living organisms, wet and dry preparations of types of animals and their parts, moist and dry fixed organisms, including scare-crows, carcasses, hides, skeletons and their parts, eggs of birds. Among them most characteristic representatives of animal kingdom of Kazakhstan are kept, and also there are the most valuable exhibits of rare, vanishing and precinctive types of animals, including a туранского tiger 70 more than back disappearing in the places of the former habitation.

Collection funds and expositions of the Biological Museum have a great scientific and educational importance, and it play an important role in environmental protection and environmental education in order to preserve the Red Book species of the animal world and to promote the ideas of nature conservation. The role of the Museum collections in scientific research is obvious. Each exhibit of such collections carries valuable scientific information like a systematic, morphological, ecological, zoogeographical and cadastral information. Therefore, in recent years, the Museum staff has done a great job of studying and systematizing the collection fund, preparing reference books, systematic catalogs and electronic databases in order to enter the information accumulated over decades into scientific circulation and make it more accessible for use in scientific and educational purposes. One of the results of this work is the «Catalog Collection of Vertebrate Animals in Biological Museum of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University» prepared by us, which is the most complete reference book on the current state of the Museum's Collection Fund.

Author Mussabekov Kylyshbay, candidate of biological sciences, graduating student of our university, in 1980-2008 МОН РК worked in Institute of zoology from a laboratory assistant to the senior staff scientist, at one time he met and worked as collections of research institutes of cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tashkent, Ashkhabad, and also collections of МГУ of the name M.V. Lomonosov, Saga of the name V.I. Lenina (Tashkent). In a museum works from 2008.
