Dear participants of the conference!

I am pleased to welcome you at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the Kazakh National University Al-Farabi at the opening of the VI International Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Farabi alemi".

This is a student conference that we organize every year during the spring period as part of the Farabian readings.

The purpose of the conference is to stimulate the research and educational activities of students; disclosure of creative abilities, selection and support of the most talented and gifted students; promoting the formation of the intellectual potential of students; attracting students and young scientists to the solution of scientific problems of our time.

This year, we accepted 365 theses from students, undergraduates and young scientists from 39 different organizations, including universities, research institutes and centers in different cities.

By tradition, the conference will have 4 sections, where 82 presentations with oral presentations will be heard.

I want to bring to your attention the chairmen of each section, as well as guests of the conference, whom we invited as speakers at the opening of our conference.

Chairman of the section "Actual problems of biology and biodiversity conservation" – Kurmanbaeva M.S., Chairman of the section "Modern Problems of Biophysics, Physiology and Biomedicine" – Tuleukhanov S.T., Chairman of the Section "Problems of Ecology, Genetics and Molecular Biology" – Aitasheva Z.G., Chairman of the “Problems of Modern Biotechnology” Section – Kistaubaeva A.S.

And now, let me introduce the guests of our conference:

-         Professor of the ENSAIA State Higher School of Agronomy and Food Industry, University of Lorraine (University of Lorraine, France), Cyril Feidt.

Cyril Feidt is the leader of the “Micropollutants and Residues in the Food Chain” research group. Today he will give us a report on the topic: “Chlordecone a paragon of old chlorinated pesticides fate from environment to the Food chain – Human health implications”.

Our next guest is a professor at Karadeniz Technical University – Zihni Demirbağ from Turkey. Professor Demirbağ is the head of the Department of Molecular Biotechnology. He is a great specialist in the field of molecular biology of viruses. Today we will listen to his report on the topic “Enhanced insecticidal activity of Chilo iridescent virus expressing an insect specific neurotoxin”.

And let me introduce our guest, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Muminov Talgat Ashirovich. Talgat Ashirovich – ic a Phthisiatrician Doctor, Doctor of Medical Sciences (1992), Professor (1994), Academician of NSA (National Science Academy) of RK (2004). He graduated from the AGMI (1976). From 1995 to 2008 – Rector of the S.D.Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, in 2004-2008 – Chairman of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences of NSA of RK. The main areas of his research: the study of the biochemical basis of pathological processes in the connective tissue of the lungs of patients with tuberculosis, certain genetic and molecular aspects of the resistance of mycobacteria of tuberculosis.

But today we will listen to his very interesting report on the topic: "Al-Farabi, Abay, Shakespeare and Modern Medicine".

This is such an interesting program for opening ceremony of our conference.
